Laptop using HDMI to TV, sound in laptop, everything else TV.
So I use a laptop to connect to my Samsung 32 inch TV. If try to play Rocket League, Left 4 Dead (2 also), or a list of other games, everything works as planned. With Lego Star Wars Force Awakens, it plays the sound through the laptop instead of the through the TV. TV is the default playback, if I disable the speakers on the laptop it just makes it no sound, and I've trying reseating the HDMI and rebooting, no change. Anyone else have this issue with a solution?

Try opening your sound control panel in windows and setting the audio playback device to the hdmi (it usually defaults to the laptop speakers). I had to do that when I used to hook mine up to a tv.

Thanks for the attempt but as I said, the HDMI/TV is the default. I've also tried flipping it from that to the speakers, starting the game, then switch back to the HDMI/TV and start the game again. No dice.

Weird. I haven't gotten around to checking, but there's no extra settings in the game's sound options to set the playback device? I think I've seen some games have dedicated device output options within the game itself, so maybe that's worth a check (definitely a long-shot though)?

update: just checked for myself... yeah sound options are definitely sparse in this game... no doubt a product of this being a port from the console version of the game.

I'm having the issue as well, can't seem to find a fix anywhere.

This made it play out of both the laptop and TV, but there's an echo and you can't mute the PC audio without silencing the TV sound as well.

Go to:
1. Right click speaker icon: Recording Devices
2. Stereo Mix as default device
3. Stereo Mix properties / Listen tab
4. Default this to TV/Receiver
5. Check "Listen to this device:

This is the best I can do so far, but the echo not tolerable imo.

Maybe you can play with it further and see if additional settings can make it so there's no pc speaker sound and stricly TV/Receiver.

Has anyone figured this out? When I first installed the game, it worked fine. The next day, laptop speakers only and choosing hdmi as default doesn't help. All other games seem fine.

Try and boot the game in Windowed mode.

Hey, man. Your method works! Thank you so much. Isn't it weird that my case only happened with LEGO games? Both TFA and The Incredibles didn't have sound through HDMI, but Nier is working fine. Thanks again, man!

This worked well enough for me on lego harry potter, I've been trying to figure this out for a long time, thanks!
