Operating cranks/valves
This is a serious issue when trying to progress through certain levels: The cranksvalves that you need to spin at a very distinct rate is too picky, if you don't spin the wheel EXACTLY the speed it wants you to, it will put you back in to the start of that sequence. WTF...

I agree; this is something new as of LSW TFA; previous LEGO games didn't have this issue with cranks or valves. It really should be addressed, but, assuming (safely) that Traveller's Tales does nothing to fix it, the workaround is to simply rotate the joystick slower.

I had a similar issue to this in LEGO Jurassic World, turning the cranks manually was added in that game, it's been a lot smoother for me with LSW: TFA though.

Indeed. However rotating the joystick slower seems to take forever, as every valve moves at a different speed and the main point is that they are so damn nitpicky about the speed that the process goes back towards the start if the player cannot maintain the velocity all the way.

The most effective solution that I can tell is simply to switch to keyboard briefly, mash 'K' until you're done, then switch back to gamepad. Most of the levers that have you rotating the stick don't set you back to the beginning, thankfully, so for those you can just slowly rotate the stick and you'll get it eventually.

Praise be to you, kind serjo. You saved me a lot of time trying to explain my 5 year old nephew why we can't play the game so often. Thank you!

A really good solution is to adjust the deadzone of your controller (Absolute minimum or maximum I forget which). You'll notice it be more responsive albeit there's still some hiccups but they are nowhere NEAR as bad to the default.

I found the only practical solution for me: Go to Settings, Controller, Change the movement of character to the DPAD. Then youhave to rotate the dpad on the crannk or whatever, and thats it. Sometime rotating the left stick very slow would work but I've got into a posing valve that didnt work.

This saved me a whole lot of gnashing of teeth too, with a slight modification. Get the character into position, switch to another character and immediately following use the keyboard to drop in as the second character. Then use the keyboard to turn the crank and drop out.
