R2-D2 and Chopper are the only astromechs we've seen with jets to hover with. R2's may have been disabled or removed by the time of The Force Awakens. R2 is at least 60 years old at this point, if he does have the jets still they may not even work.

pfffft....... the Most famous companion of C3PO, who Saved Luke and leia and Han with Chewie on Multiple occasions- and they Can't be bothered to Fix his jets?

And yea, it's not very good that he hasn't used them in Ep.7 either , but I guess more action comes in Later on then.
