Not sure what my issue is

I'm on mission lvl 5 (God Eater Resurrection) and I'm having a lot of trouble progressing in the game. I feel like if I didn't have teammates to resurrect me every couple minutes I couldn't complete any of these levels. I've read a bunch of guides but I still don't know what my problem is.
Is it that I have no idea how to use the bullet editor?
Is it that the game is supposed to be a grind fest to get items for better equipment?
Is it that each enemy is supposed to be a Stone Wall you have to keep slowly chipping away at, doing 50-120 damage each time while they jump around?
Is it that I don't have the reflexes to block and dodge every attack and I just have to git gud?

I don't know what to work on because I don't know what the problem is, and depending on the issue, I may just want to move on. I had a lot of fun at the beginning, but it's not like I have to complete every game I own. So what do you think? What's the biggest obstacle to overcome? Or am I doing fine and each enemy is supposed to be 10-15 minutes of chipping away health?

I wouldn't say grind fest, but you do need to have good equipment. Although it's impossible to be OP (Other than OP custom bullets) because weapon upgrades are locked behind story progression. Perhaps, git gud is in order? Or try other weapon types to see which are the ones that is the most effective. Although enlighten me,which Aragami or mission troubles you the most?

Do you check whether your weapons can hit the aragami's weakness?
Are your equipments around the same rank as your mission?
Does your shield have enough damage protection and elemental defence for said aragamis?

Take these three into consideration. Like MH, these aragamis have a lot of health and you're supposed to deal damage whenever you have an opening. Learn the pattern and tells.
10-15 minutes is nothing lmao. If you go against a special aragami you're probably gonna get decked to fight for even 30+ minutes if you're unprepared.

I was stuck on the mission with the four kongou. So fast, so annoying.

I also reached out on reddit and I got similar advice to Taigar's. I already knew about weak points and references but what I didn't get was that the weapon rank was the same as the mission rank. I'm using a Short Blade now which I believe gives me more control, and my sword and shield are both two ranks higher than they used to be. I'm doing much better and having fun again. Thank you.
