Keep shooting stuff with your designated gun. If progress is too slow for you, do higher difficulty missions. Hitting weakpoints and elemental weakness probably speeds it up a bit.

Keep shooting the target. Hit+ Crit++ [Cant really be seen while in battle]
Higher diificulty for faster progress.
there's a skill call blood carnival from a rank 4 tower shield named Borobudur, 30% Blood Art & Blood Bullet awakening.
and the BA Chance Up from the support unit, if you have it learnt.

Syth, there was a point where getting BA's and BB's felt sorta grindy (I stopped progressing in story and was doing free missions to get what I wanted), and said fk it. Now at diff 12? My BB's were all maxed a while ago and you can get from a rank 3 to a rank 4 blood art usually within a mission or two assuming you're fighting an aragami that allows you to use it liberally.

TLDR; if it feels slow, just play through story. You'll have it before you even realize.
