And... I'm Bored
I played Resurrection for two hours.

You run between floors to talk to people.

Pick up a mission, run mission, lather rinse repeat.

I loaded up the second and while it looks nicer, it's the exact same thing. About an hour in and it seems to be the same monsters in the same levels.

Maybe I need to play it more, but I'm already doubtful it gets any better.

Anyone else a bit... disappointed in the offerings? Does it get any better with time? Is it just not the game for me then?

Would appreciate any feedback and/or thoughts.

This is why you look what you're getting into before buying.

A lot of people who bought this, probably already played GEB or played Monster Hunter.

GER kinda drip feeds you everything at a very slow pace, after around the 5 hours mark things start to pick up. It has a cliched anime story that is told well, and game mechanics that take time to get into, once you unlock predator styles and contorl units you can customize how your character behaves in battle and how to approach different situations with your ablitlies. As others have said, play with friends, or play with people online and make sure that you can commuinicate with them. Aside from the story the whole point of the game is to take down aragami and make better equipment, if you put the time into it the challange (if you're looking for it) is there.

Thank you for the feedback. I'll stick with it and see where the game takes me.

Hate to say it, but this is a Monster Hunter game through and through. Pick up missions, go kill stuff, return to town, craft stuff, get missions, go kill stuff... that's pretty much the entire genre right there. If you find that boring, then this genre isn't for you.

However, it gets better. It always does. In Monster Hunter, you start by fighting small, weak monsters, and end up with huge monsters that takes forever to kill. Final Fantasy Explorers is also in this genre, and just like in MH, you start with weak monsters and end up fighting huge bosses. But between kill stuff? Walk around, talk to people, get missions and craft stuff. That's about it. Kill stuff, get stuff, make better weapon, kill bigger stuff, get better stuff, make better weapons, kill even bigger stuff... you get the idea.

As for God Eater, I'm not too familiar with it, but after an hour in the first, it screams Monster Hunter all the way. It's very Monster Hunter-y all the way down. However, what I like about God Eater so far is that it's on a big screen (I play both Monster Hunter and Final Fantasy Explorers are on the 3DS), and the action is a lot faster than in either of those. So while the core game is the same as MH and FFE, the gameplay itself is a whole lot faster and more enjoyable. So in the end, it's just another Monster Hunter type game, but a very enjoyable one. :-)

And slightly off topic, I do recommend you try out Final Fantasy Explorers if you can. It's the same genre, but much more casual than Monster Hunter. Maybe that's why I like it more than the real Monster Hunter. ;-)

I felt the same way as you OP but around the 4-5 hour mark, not only am I intruiged where the story is headed, the gameplay opens up quite a bit.

The ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bullet editor is a little hard to figure out, but is fun when you can turn your shotgun shots into multi-hit mini explosives.

Isn't that pretty much how every game is though....you do the same thing over and over....
