Though if Monster Hunter is about defeating difficult bosses ala Dark Souls then i like that as well, but im hoping for a decent story.
If you're looking for a story, this certainly has one - it's just not a very good one. Like I described to another user in the forums, the story is passable at best. Don't go in expecting literary excellence.
God Eater definitely has you covered in the combat department. The variety of weapons and Aragami should keep you occupied for the 200+ hours between the two games. Just be prepared for a lot - and I mean a LOT - of repetition; they will ask you to fight many of the same enemies when you're going through the game.
This game derives many core elements from Monster Hunter but is inferior to Monster Hunter in every way; mind you, I started with God Eater before Monster Hunter.
My main gripes with this game are the music, and challenge. When you encounter a huge monster in MH, the music lets you know you're in for a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ epic fight. The difficulty for MH can be comparable to Dark Souls.
God Eater's music is pathetic. It doesn't evoke any emotion at all. There is virtually zero challenge. You can literally cheese your way from the start of the game using the Assault Rifle.
However, MH does not exist on PC so this has to do and I enjoy anime. Also keep in mind God Eater has had very few iteration cycles (compared to MH) and is a "budget game." It becomes painfully obvious because many things are reused from stages, music, to models.
I'd seriously watch some gameplay videos before buying it. I played this game on PSP way back so it has nostalgia value for me. If you're comparing this to Nier, the two are so different they cannot be compared.
GE has better underboob ;)
Graphics in GE are superior to MH in everyway because PC and PS4 >>>> 3DS lol
