Managed the first three phases of the mission with litte red riding sue with only a few player K.O.s, then I hit mister light speed butcher.

1 ) If Livie gets knocked out here, she won't respawn, even though she should be at full endurance.

2 ) While I am generally opposed to cheesing, I went into this with an assault gun infinite build because I had no idea what this fight was going to be like.

3 ) Went from 75 endurance to not enough for respawn in four KOs.

Also went in with a 400% rage burst meter and used that up as fast as I could. Still got wasted because Livie wouldn't respawn, and just lay on the ground waiting for ressuscitation.

Not sure what i did wrong, but this felt a bit on the cheap side, I'd like to know how others have handled this, because the rest of the mission (except the damned Sekhmet) was a cakewalk.

to be honest, this is one of the part in this game where the difficulty really spikes. Most players i know surprised by this mission whether they failed first or cleared it on first try. The fight itself is not that hard, but it need to be noted that:

- It's four stage mission with only single npc, which put mental pressure to the player, especially if the player rely on the npc a lot
- You don't know what you face on the last stage, so you might come unprepared
- Chrome Gawain is the first enemy in GE series that has multi stage feint attack, plus it has high overall agility.

at the bright side, chrome gawain weakspot itself is pretty exposed, so you can kill him easily if you know what you're doing, and IMO it's even easier than normal kyuubi once you able to read his pattern. *but yes, at this point, it felt harder because of the 'surprise' effect.

Sure blood rage + bullet spam should be able to kill him quickly (easiest way is just spam crush type bullet to his huge arm, either with shotgun multi-hit bomb, blast's meteor, or assault bomb rapid fire), but blood rage + scythe's round fang spam also works wonder.

If you prefer to avoid blood rage, spear's charge glide can hit him easily. Otherwise sniper's stealth troll trick also works.

This is because the spike came from GE2 to Rage Burst, honestly GE2 was too easy with all the yakshas. As for Chrome Gawain and the likes, you just have to get used to its move and eventually you'll be able to dodge them, I recommened weapons that can hit fast and hard so you can maximise hit and run strategy.

This is the part of the game where you should think about crafting elemental variants of your desired weapon class to efficiently get through each fight. Remember that the loadout system exists for this reason! I managed to take him down with shotgun and short sword, then proc blood rage the second I got it. It's a hard fight but if you pay attention to his attacks and remember to block his sweep attacks you'll be fine.

Oh, and Livie will probably die a lot if you don't heal her. Heal her up so that the Chrome Gawain will aggro on her rather than you.

Had elemental weapon (divine chainsaw EX, I figured it would be a deusphage, and thus far all the deusphage have been weak to divine).

Had a usable infinite fire assault gun (Titan gun).

Had an okay (high def, but no elemental) shield (Saturn EX).

Had 400% rage and used it all.

Livie dropped, managed to res her twice, got ko'ed right after by light-speed butcher. Not so good at dodging/blocking against high-speed opponents, nerve damage in my hands. Was doing okay but without the aggro draw I couldn't keep up. I'm going to try again, but not having HP/condition detection on any of my gear makes this whole thing a guessing game.

I'm probably going to have to grind some more and get Livie some useful skills, she just can't hang.

Have healing bullets and bring a Spark Elemental God Arc. It doesn't help that the PC version of this has your Teammates AI gimped compared to the Sony Versions.

Well, ground up some materials and skill levels, got wrecked again, then cheesed the hell out of him. Not a victory I enjoyed, but not a fight I enjoyed either.

I would have liked to have done this fair and square, but I'm out of patience for this mission design.

It wouldn't be cheating if you go with auto guard and just remember his moves. Auto guard just act faster than your reaction but it requires you to press nothing else but movement. Besides, you really need to get used to this boss or else you'll just suffer more in the end.

It isn't 'cheating' to gun him down with infinite fire assault either.

If I was able to keep up with his movements this wouldn't be a problem at all, I'd just practice against him a few times and then take him down. Unfortunately my fingers don't always respond to the commands I give them due to nerve damage, I really cannot keep up with his pattern, I can clearly see what he is doing, but I'm just not able to enter commands fast enough to avoid (or much of anything really) his attacks.

I do appreciate all the advice given here, thank all of you who have posted for your suggestions and assistance.

You can also use another method where you can have your "NPC" team learn stuffs like, im not sure if its called hold hits which will make the chrome gawain paralyze, having 3 man in a team with paralyze would actually change the whole game

That particular mission only has livie, that's why he's having trouble.

I'm well past it now, pushing towards the end of the story missions. It was not an enjoyable mission tho', and having to go through the whole thing over and over again was very time consuming and unpleasant.

Here what I did:
- Use Long Blade (abusing Impulse Edge, especially on Sekhmet)
- Use my C:[Element] bullets, for more easy cheese
- Swap to Scythe (+ Blood Drenched Fang) when I reached Chrome Gawain
- Spam Laser Heal bullet with Assault Gun

You could follow what I did
Well, I never had any difficulties to begin with xD
