Of all the names they could have gone with.
They chose to name the franchise "God eater". It sounds really stupid to be honest. What of "God Systems" if they needed to put the name "God" in it, or something else?

Anyway. 60% off, should I buy it?

If you haven't played a GE game, it's called God Eater because the Aragami are considered "gods" because they are named after gods and goddesses in mythology. The protagonist defeats these aragami and devours them.

Anyways, the game is really fun, and for $20 it comes with the prequel. Buy it if you're into grinding for hours to get material to make new equipment (there are tons of different clothings and weapons) and like to kill a bunch of monsters. If you do buy it, add me and I can help you sometime :P

The Japanese do have a way of coming up with some odd names. It kinda makes sense, given the context of the game world, that the monsters are called Aragami which roughly translates to "wrathful god"

Anyway, I'd say now is a very good time to buy them, at 60% off!

Ok so...

The enemies in the game are called Aragami. Aragami translated into english means 'Raging God', derived from 'Ara' meaning 'Raging/Malevolent' and 'Kami' meaning 'God'.
Aragami are mostly unique to God Eater, but the name has ties to 'Shinigami', meaning 'Death God', as can be seen in anime such as Death Note.
The reason for the name is that part of the mechanics for the game are to 'devour' Aragami, rewarding in crafting materials and combat boosts, so the characters basically eat gods, hence, God Eater.

Funny bit of trivia though, 'Kami' in Japanese actually has two meanings, 'God' and 'Paper', so Aragami can mean 'Raging God' or 'Raging Paper', Origami can mean 'Folding Paper' or 'Folding God', and Shinigami can mean 'Death God' or 'Death Paper'. The latter showing that the anime/manga Death Note is actually quite a clever play on words, as the Shinigami in the anime kill people by writing their names in notebooks, so they are death gods with death paper.

Well, I just bought the game, and I hope to have fun with it. But. I realized its kind of stupid. I still think the creator was quite fund of a childish name as such for the sake of making it sound good. Nah. Even the anime show was bad.

anywho, still going to stomach some time playing the game for the gameplay and non of the sass.
