Knockback simulator.
Does this game ever become something more than a knockback simulator?

Not sure what im doing wrong but 8/10 of every creature i fights attacks send me flying in the air, they jump on me.. flying through the air, walk near me.. flying through the air. etc

The chain knockbacks are annoying as hell, some things will even punt me before ive even recovered from the first one.. and since most knockbacks seem to do halfmy health, thats usually a death.

Feeling very trampled here, am i missing something? is there some way to reduce the knockback effect? or negate it?

dodging seems very hit or miss, never seem to get out of the way in time, and blocking with the shield seems to work some of the time, but even that proves useless without mod investment into radius/speed, and then i just seem to spend all my time blocking and not fighting.

the camera certainly doesnt help at all, even on max distance its still soo damn close i cant see all the crap thats flying or rolling at me from off screen.

Im trying to like this game, but all the fights have me feeling trampled or juggled (moreso if there is more than 1 aragami in the fight).

is there something im missing?

If you're like me an suck at blocking then use the Auto-Guard item or enhancement.

But yeah, if you block you don't go airborne.

Airborne 7ft high and launched 5 meters away

There is a skill that will reduce the knockback distance, but it's better to just learn the attack patterns and block/dodge accordingly.

Keep in mind that dodging has zero invincibility frames, so be absolutely sure that your dodge counts. Some attacks will require you to block in a specific direction - such as a Borg Camlann's tail sweep and Hannibal's leap - so adjust as needed. I also highly recommend using a Tower Shield, since it provides 100% damage reduction from successful blocks compared to the smaller shields. Sure, it's a little slow to deploy, but that's not a problem once you familiarize yourself with the attack patterns; if it's really an issue, you can always slap on a Guard Speed skill.

All of this is simply studying their body language and reacting accordingly once you recognize what they're about to do. You'll get it down with enough practice.

yeah man, since when giant dragons can KNOCKBACK people when they hit them, it just breaks my immersion.

Jokes aside, time your attacks and dodges or follow the advice of stefe. I haven't, for the most part, used any shield radius skill for defense so its not a necessity, you just need pratice, like any other action game.

you could equip a charge hammer and use that blood skill brave heart which prevents hits from staggering when boosting, but that does protect against the harder hits. I might also have gotten the name wrong on the skill.

Since most of the ideas are about melee, as shield can only be used in melee... Guns, or at least Assault, have a large back-jump sort of dodge option. I forget the inputs for it, but that can help avoid a lot of stuff, as can jumping and then shooting mid-air to stay over the attack.

Most stuff that is difficult to normally run/dodge away from, is stuff that you can jump right over(Borg Camlann spin) or use the huge back-jump to avoid(various dash attacks)

Input is Running + Dodge button
For the specials of Guns

While in Blade Mode:
Block/Attacking > Whatever your Running button is + Jump

While in Gun Mode:
Running button + Dash/dodge
