The autonomy of actions is unique to the digital game, because the devs wanted a more streamlined experience for the digital game. However, you shouldn't be allowed to use a cards 'scrap itself' ability, and then use its main procs.
About the attacking thingy, yea it's a small annoyance, and it would be cool if you end turn against an open opponent, it deals the damage automatically...
A base for example, in the digital game has an ability that I can chose to activate or not, however, if I chose not to use the ability I can't reach the scrap ability!
Also a small annoyance, and in general you wouldn't scrap without using the ability.
However, there are some campaign missions that require you "not to use" base influence and trade abilities to get 3 stars. So I can't scrap the base card because I don't want to use the abilities.
I managed to win the campaign mission, but it's such a sad oversight, and I wanted to make sure I am actually allowed by the rules to do so in the physical game. If I ever run into the situation (I'm probably most definitely not, but one never knows).
