In the main menu of the game select "Play Online" and enter the online lobby, where there are three buttons on the bottom of the screen, "Arena", "Challenge" and "New Game". Select "Challenge", type in the name that your friend uses in Star Realms, select what decks you want to use in the match and finally send the match invite by klicking either "Real Time Challenge" or "48 Hour Challenge" -button from the bottom of the screen. Then the window returns to the online lobby and you shoud see the challenge you just created as a button in the lobby. Your friend should see the same challenge as a button in their lobby and they need to klick it opening the details of the match and then they need to accept the match by klicking "Accept". After this your lobby should automatically refresh and you should see that the match has started and the match-button shows the player, who has the turn. Your friend should see the same thing and you both need to klick the match to join it. After a loading screen you both should be in the match. Sometimes the lobby doesn't refresh automatically and you can't see that your friend has already created/started the match, so if it takes more than 30 seconds for the match to become available, you can manually refresh the lobby from the round-arrow-button in the upper right side of the lobby to try to find the match.
If you are a beginner, I recommend creating the 48 hour challenge, because then you don't need to hurry on every turn, but you can still complete a match in, say, 15 minutes.
When the match is over, it will show up in the lobby as a "You Won" or "You Lost" -button. You can challenge the same player easily by klicking the finished game and selecting "Rematch". Above the "Rematch" -button there is a star icon and by klicking it you can add the opponent in your friends list, which can be found from the "Challenge" -window when creating a new challenge, and then you can select your friend without the need to type their name every time.
I hope this helps and also, have fun playing! :)
