Nocturnal Quest: An Idle RPG Adventure is average but the game heavily favors active play. If you don’t constantly manage your characters, you’ll miss out on a significant amount of resources and idle progression becomes painfully slow compared to active engagement.

The early game is enjoyable, but several issues quickly become apparent.

1. Severe Gold Shortage
Gold is chronically scarce. Purchasing even basic gear from the shop becomes a long and drawn-out grind. Prices are disproportionately high and it can take more than an hour of active gameplay—assuming good luck—to afford a single piece of equipment. This creates a frustrating bottleneck very early on.

2. Difficulty Spikes and Repetitive Grinding
From level 3 onward, skeleton enemies become noticeably tankier and can easily wipe your team of three characters. Leveling up is necessary, of course, but the process is slow and monotonous. I often had to retreat back to level 1 and repeat the same fights over and over, which quickly becomes tedious.

3. Gear RNG Is Brutal
Equipment scales sharply by level—Level 1 gear might give +10–14 to a statistic, while Level 2 jumps to +40. That part is fine. The problem is the random number generator (RNG) system for modifiers. Most crafted gear ends up being unusable “bricked” trash with mismatched or worthless stats. I’ve had plenty of gear ruined purely by bad luck, which is discouraging and wastes time and resources.

4. Runes Are Unrealistically Expensive
Trying to fix bad gear with runes isn’t viable either. Augmentation costs 10k per rune and transmutation costs 15k per rune. These are unsustainable prices, especially since gearing a team requires thousands of transmutation runes to reroll modifiers and augmentation runes to add gem slots. The system feels designed to drain resources rather than support meaningful progression.

5. Unbalanced Boss Encounters
Before you even reach mid‑game, you’ll encounter super and tough bosses with absurdly high initiative. They often act multiple times before your team can take a single turn, leading to unavoidable deaths and a sense of unfairness. These encounters feel overtuned and poorly balanced.
