after seeing the video preview on the steam store page i don't see how this is a rogue like. When the players died in the video they just respawned. Could you please explain. Also i havent bought the game but it looks interesting.

To answer your question, if you are looking for the permadeath part of rogue likes, the challenge story mode in Stellar Stars is what you are looking for :D

The new video preview on the steam store is the local versus mode which allows you to couch fight against your friend (main objective is to capture the victory star in the center of the stage).

There is also the online multiplayer mode where you can play a match against your friend by creating rooms with custom room names which your friends can join (up to 4 players). Winning in online matches (by capturing the victory star) will net you trophies. The more trophies you get, the higher the leagues you can climb up (bronze -> silver - > gold -> crystal -> etc etc)

To sum it all up, Stellar Stars has 3 different play modes:

1) Challenge Story Mode - the single player mode with permadeath, bosses and procedurally generated stages

2) Local Versus Mode - where you can play against a friend sitting next to you to see who can capture the victory star

3) Online Multiplayer Mode - where you can play against your friends (or strangers) in online matches to see who can capture the victory star for trophies (to climb up leagues)

For both the local versus mode and online multiplayer mode, there is no permadeath. You will respawn after dying and you do take a longer time to respawn if your character level is higher.
