You're also slightly lacking in a Melee player, if you can, at least before opening the doors, give some attack Quartz to Ries.
I've personally completed the game on Nightmare, found this boss pretty easy.
Stick as many as you can on Kevin and cackle as nothing breaks through a 200CP Grail Burst before Kevin gets all 200 of that CP back to reapply it.
It's hard for me to say what you should do because I don't actually know what you have equipped on all of your characters (or if you're okay with redoing the previous 3 fights I don't know what items you still have in your inventory). One thing that's for certain though is you should be casting clock up EX on all of your characters ASAP. Ideally with that team composition you should have super gladiator headband and lunar seal/gladiator headband on Josette, and she can use her S break non-stop to clear the pillars (wait until the main boss starts casting something since once the pillars die the casting is cancelled and the cast time is insanely long so it'll take a long time before he takes another turn), but I doubt you have those already equipped on her.
EDIT: If you absolutely have to use genesic barrier to beat the first stage, then you should hold off on killing the last pillar (just leave it at like 1k health or something) until genesic barrier wears off - I guess I've never actually seen what happens in the first stage since I've always beaten it before any spells were cast so I guess I'm not sure if gaia shield spamming would work there or not, but you definitely don't want genesic barrier still up when you get past the first stage.
2) Max Guard will block the first phase's Sept-Crisis just fine.
And why would you bring Josette to the last boss? You picked like one of the weakest possible character combos for that fight.
Oh, whoops, I misread something somewhere. Disregard that part then.
No use in bothering with Titanic Roar or Death Scream as Joshua and Ries's S-Craft will deal more lethal damage. Make sure that you have equipped the team with anti-faint items and don't stand in line when fighting Anima as your members will get hit by one of its skills that causes faint, if I am not mistaken. Basically, just equip Joshua and Richard with Super Gladiator Belt and spam S-Craft. No need to save on Zeram, just use them as there is no more battle after this one.
My problem was that only Olivier had Freeze Protection and he never got another turn to unfreeze my party members. Also, it's impossible to change Equipment after the 3 Fights.
Often in one fell swoop, I could go from having all 4 characters alive and buffed, fully healed, to getting wiped out in a single set of enemy turns. The freeze everyone, or faint anyone near the boss is just cheap, especially given that the save right before that boss doesn't let you change your accessories which would have made the fight way easier.
This is a problem with the game's design in general though. All of the Trails in the Sky games suffer from this. You don't know what status effects a boss/enemy can dish out before entering the fight, so if they hit you with deadly ones than it will likely result in defeat and a reload + change of equipment. They could have prevented this issue numerous ways, such as allowing for the changing of equipment during battle, or weakening the status effects to a more reasonable level.
Anyway, I beat the boss after the offset had reduced it's stats by 20% and than it was pretty easy. It was at that point that I remembered Kevin's first S-break, that makes a huge difference lol. Even at that low of stats for the boss, it's big charged craft still instantly kills the entire party at full health so you NEED to be using Earth Wall a lot to beat it either way.
Once you know the tricks of this boss, it's pretty easy. There is a lot of OP crafts and arts in this game. It's just an annoying scenario they created for the end of the game. I like that every character gets used and the team idea overall but it could've been executed better. the player had no way of knowing they wouldn't be regrouping before the final fight, they couldn't exchange equipment between each other either. Than, having to fight 4 bosses in a row is just unnecessary.
The four bosses are a fantastic way to end the game. The only problem is that you can't reequip one of the parties without redoing the other fights.
