It wouldn't be the best solution, but with a little work could be a very serviceable solution given various restrictions (original platform availability and lifespan, licensing, any rights the Chinese PC port may exclusively have or prevent or otherwise become cost prohibitive), without a company like Xseed breaking the bank or having to start from scratch.
Either way I hope to play the Crossbell games in some form with an English translation, even if it means emulating the PSP version. And I'm willing to wait for a good translation because all the text adds to my enjoyment of this particular series. I am interested in what NPCs are doing as they each have their own life and usually pop up again (hi Anton!), so I'll be avoiding KNOWN unfinished/unready translations.
I don't see how some can play a game using a translated script ala gamefaqs or something. It just dosent feel right to play it that way (and I'm one of those pro-subtitles vs dubbers for anime).
So, basically, the Steam versions of FFIII, IV, IV TAY, V e VI. Those are wrapped Android Versions into an emulator, IIRC.
And as I'm not a native english speaker, I won't be bothered by this so called "really bad translation".
Thank you², guys. (:
Or maybe I'm implying this is the case? If so, I apologize but what I've mentioned is something to keep in mind as a general statement on this topic.
Honestly, I got bored with Zero sometime during chapter 1. And considering all the other games out at the moment to play, I put Zero on the back burner.
Being a fan of the Trails in the Sky games, and Cold steel as well, IMO Zero isn't as good as any of the games in either series.
I thought Trails 2nd was better than the 1st. And CS2 was better than 1. Is AO better than Zero?

"Any discussion of piracy will result in a permanent ban from the Steam Community including, but not limited to: Cracks, Key generators, and Console emulators."
Since the fan translation is only available for *******r versions of the game, I wouldn't risk continued discussion about them. That said, we can still talk about the Crossbell games in general.
May I ask why you think Zero wasn't as good as any of the prior 'Trails games?
In my opinion, one reason why Zero got boring for you was probably because of the translation. I don't see why anyone would want to play that when a better one is coming out soon. I sometimes feel like people forget the 4 year wait for SC. It's not that far away and patience is what every Trails fan should have. It's not like even if we were fully caught up we wouldn't have to wait anymore. We'd still have to wait for the games to be made. xD
I imagine, as well, that this thread would have been deleted already if it was violating any rules.
I agree. Kondo has also said in recent interviews he really wants the Crossbell games to get more exposure internationally. So it's hinting at a good chance Xseed will finally get the licenses for both games. But maybe it will take longer than we expect it to be announced,
This is nothing but hopefull speculation on my part, so take it with a grain of Weissman salt, but for alll we know they could have started localizing Zero while they were still working on Sky the 3rd. I'm also expecting some announcment of some kind before Cold Steel II's PC port releases.
I'm really hoping they don't localize CS III before Crossbell, since CS III spoils some major plot twists from the Crossbell Arc. I'm hoping they bundle CS III and the new CS together as one licensing deal and then do them like how the Sky Trilogy was one deal and CS I and II were another. And if that's the case, they can do Zero and Azure while waiting for the next CS game to come out, and that way they can do all the games.
But again, just hopeful speculation.
The character cast isn't all that great. The party lineup, like stats/abilities wise is extremely mediocre compared to the lineup you get in Trails. And you're limited to pretty much the main 4 characters, outside of a few situations where additional members join you temporarily.
Lloyd Bannings is basically a copy-paste of Estelle, combat/usefulness wise. But Estelle is actually a little bit better. I couldn't find a comparison to Agate, or Zin, or Joshua, and Tio is worse than any caster character in Trails. Kloe, just with worse crafts. The problem is her staff weapon is based on STR not ATS, and her normal attacks are pretty much useless a little bit later on. Unlike Kloe's Sanctus Nova, Tio's S-Craft is based on STR, so it's garbage too.
Elie is probably the best character, usefulness wise. ATS almost as high as Tio's and can use a more versatile range of arts. She's got a CP battery craft as well, which is useful. It's similar to one of Alisa's crafts from Cold Steel. She's close to an Oliver + Schera mix with a CP battery craft.
The red headed guy is basically a really poor man's Agate. And I mean really poor. Poor enough to where it's not really an accurate comparison. Outside of the 'big dude with big weapon' thing. He's not even as good as Mueller.
The most mediocre group of 4 you could put together in Trail's 3rd is probably more effective combat wise than the 4 mains in Zero. I'd take a party of Anelace, Mueller, Schera and Josette over Zero's lineup. And that's really close to about the worst performing combat party you could put together in Trails 3rd (IMO).
I thought the trails games were better, and the cold steel series as well.
Comparing Zero's cast in combat effectiveness (first game in a duology) to 3rd? A more fair comparison would be FC. Comparing them to CS's cast is even worse considering how braindead those games are.
Tio is a caster, why should her normal attacks not be useless? (although they can actually be decent in Ao for reasons). Her second S-craft is great. Olivier and Schera's S-crafts were great in Sky?
Randy not even as good as Mueller? when two of his early crafts already trivialize most of Zero? yeah okay
Shera is very powerful. Not sure how serious I can thank your other assessments if you write stuff like the above.
