POSSIBLE SPOILERS Chapter 5 monster drops

I've heard that there is a way to obtain better equipment and weapons in chapter 5. The question is is it worth trying to grind it? Are there any specific conditions? (Nightmare difficulty, blinded playthrough, avoid spoilers if possible please, I've obtained both characteers in the chapter)

You can get weapons from monsters during any chapter. Each character with their own unique weapon. With each chapter you get the + versions of those weapons. Higher the value the better. These weapons do make the characters super op especially if you can get a + weapon during one of the earlier chapters (you need to be damn lucky). For example during my last run I got Mueller his +1 sword. He was a force to be wreckened with for 2 chapters.

There are also quartz you can get from monsters. Some level 4, some gems etc etc...
There are some ninja tabi too, which is a speed oriented armor set I believe. (not sure if it has its own + versions)
Honestly my recommendation is to look at your bestiary and switch to item drops to see everything.

Now that being said, are they necessary even on Nightmare? NO. I have done like at least 3 runs of this game and never once have I needed them. You don't need to grind levels or for these weapons. The end game is quite easy.

That being said there are a lot of secrets in this game. Like in one of the dungeons there are these backward written riddles, which tell you the hidden places to get 1000 of each sepith if you examine the area. If you read every book in the garden you get a super powerful accessory. You can beat Gilbert at the arena for the fools emblem which is a super useful item especially for those speed builds. You can get analace equipped with Jinu to the final arena fight and if you win the weapon gets a power boost and becomes the most powerful weapon in the game.

Thanks, that's a very good answer! I've already tested Orbal Tita and "You are already dead" Colonel, and yes, I'm not sure that I really need any more specific grinding except for Onyx Gems. I just like the feeling of beeing as fast as it's possible, especially with aforementioned characters that are literally powerhouses. It's too funny to avoid it I guess. I know about item drops. I just wanted to vefify if there are any specific conditions with grimours for example like "kill an enemy with a certain characrer with perticular skill" and so on. I thought I read something like that. Probably I misunderstood that. Thanks again!

The item drops in Chapter 5 are arguably the best in the game. If I remember correctly, the blue blobs have a small chance of dropping shoes (Ninja Tabi) and armor (Kitty Suit) which drastically raise SPD and EVA. They aren't required to beat Nightmare, but if you ever hit a brick wall (I'm thinking of one boss in particular) then you should consider grinding for them. Using the Fortune quartz and Josette's support bonus should make the process fairly painless.

There's a thread in the second page with all the drops.

Bennu Nucleus in the Abyss drops armor and boots that can turn your characters into monsters. Doppel Reene and Doppel Anelace also drop powerful armor. Doppel Tita and maybe Doppel Ries drops a nice accessory as well.

Nice. Can these Doppels spawn in Chapter 5? From what I observed - not really, as you need stronger grimoirs for that. PROBABLY. I'm not sure. I'm not too mad to spend a lot of time for nothing. Maybe I just got too unlucky. Nevertheless, that was useful information, although I don't know HOW MORE OP you can get after getting Kitty Suits and Heat Resistant Boots. The SPD is insane.

Well, it took me about on hour of two of reloads to get all the Kitty Suits I needed as well as 2 weapons I looked for. Fair enough I guess.

Grimroires transform into doppels so it should work but chances of getting the doppelganger that you want and the item drop is really really low. Which is why those weapons are so powerful. Not sure if they are the best but the highest level weapon can easily give the zemurian counterpart it's run for it's money.

It aint worth it. I once tried to get every weapon drops during my last run of the game, it takes forever with nothing to show. Cause again you need to get the right doppleganger. Its not worth it.
Though I will say that the doppleganger Renne is adorable as all hell and the fact that the dopplegangers can do S-Crafts is hilarious. Seriously seeing Estelle do wheel of time without the whole black screen is kinda scary since she moves so eraticly.

I was very lucky to get weapon for Tita from the first Doppel I've encountered and I was totally happy with that as that's the exact character I'm going to use in the future. Then I got sword for Richard from Incubus. I'm not sure there is any need to get anything more than that except for a couple of fool's emblems, but I don't know who drops them (I know you can farm them). I mean, 173 SPD Richard at the end of Ch5 is already OP as hell, but making him 193 SPD to surpass Loewe in SC... That's a goal =D But I get your point, I'll stop at what I have now since it's already waaaaay too powerful (I didn't feel the boss of Ch5 AT ALL).

Fools emblem is from the greatest warrior of all time.......Gilbert. You farm him in the arena. Weird how the first arena has better rewards than the second one :D At least the 3rd one has super cool fights back to back and the upgraded Ginu.

The Doppels in Chapter 5 only drop the normal versions of the traveller weapons. Only Agate, Estelle, Tita and Zin appear in Chapter 5. Anelace, Joshua, Kloe and Colonel Richard appear in Chapter 6.
