There's also the option of grinding in the final dungeon itself, provided you have enough healing items. I was around level 137-138 going into the final dungeon, and at the stopping point before each switch, had reach level 142 with all but the main group, which was level 144. I don't think I stayed in there long, just enough to grab all of the chests. I was able to beat the last few fights without too nuch trouble, but I was only playing on normal difficulty.

If you get trouble, you can ask here for setups. Level is just secondary factor for final bosses, even on Nightmare....
I went with 140 for the final boss as I used Estelle and Joshua for it, only one Grail Sphere was used right before its S-Craft struck the party, no Earth Wall was used.
Those enemies give a lot of xp and they are easier than the enemies in abyss.
Yeah, just finished the game yesterday. Turns out final dungeon actually gives best exp ,sepith and loot (apart from kitty suit and +3 armor). I was worried about underlevelled members for nothing since first mob gave me like 4-5 lvs lol. By the end each party was lv 140s even though I didn't particularly grind there.
