Do new books appear at the start of every single chapter? Or do they appear at other times as well?

I personnally did them all at start of chapter 3 (Carnelia), 4 (Gambler Jack), 5 (Doll Knight), 6 (Miscellaneous) and got the achievement there.

Liberl News doesn't count towards the achievement?

I don't remember reading it but still got the achievement, so I guess not. IIRC there are 54 books needed for achievement. Carnelia has 11 chapters, GJ 15, DK 22 and 6 misc. So 11 + 15 + 22 + 6 = 54, if I don't suck too much at maths.

Alright, I've just looked around the garden again and I don't see Gambler Jack anywhere. I'm on chapter 4 currently as well so, I'm confused.

Actually I just read Liberl News but it spawned on finale chapter for me. So maybe the spawn order isn't the same ?
I also saw books spawning on the little bookshelf downstairs the "tree zone" of the Garden, so maybe check here.

Yeah, I checked both areas and it's not there. I did see a few books that were in the library in ZCF in the 2nd game. Books like Kitty Talk for Dummies, etc.

Gambler Jack is replaced by Doll Knight later in the game. If you didn't read it when it was available you're going to have to wait until cycle 2.

The thing is, Doll Knight hasn't shown up either and I check quite frequently.

I'm in the same boat. I've checked both library areas in the garden multiple times each chapter and all I've ever seen are Carnelia, the 5 random book set, and Liberl news. 16 of 52 for the achievement. I'm at the very end of chapter 4.

the Gambler Jack never changed to any other books and I'm at the final chapter now, with 19/53 on the achievement,guess I have to skip it for now :|

For me, the Gambler Jack series has yet to show up at all.

Gambler Jack finally popped up for me. It showed up after Chapter 4 was finished and at the start of Chapter 5.

It doesn't have to be on the same save, so just change slots often and you can just go back to a slot in a different chapter, read the books and get the achievement that way. Like all the other achievements of this kind in trails games.

For me, the "other/misc" books appeared in Chapter 4, while Gambler Jack appeared in Chapter 5.

At the end of the game (pre final dungeon) I only had access to Carnelia + Doll Knight (and Gilbert's Book, which was in the same spot as Misc books).

Carnelia is the first series to show there ever. I think it shows up at the beginning of chapter 2 or even in the 1st one.

Never encountered Liberl news.

The first batch of Liberl News pops up around chapter 4, the second batch in the last chapter. Also, around half the available books are in that second area you mentioned.
The achievement seems bugged anyway, just like it was in SC. I read through all of Carnelia and The Doll Knight along with a few other entries, and the count on my achievements page is only showing 7/52, which obviously doesn't add up.

It's not bugged, this is how counting always works. Once you read them all, you'll get the achievement.
