Do the door stories get better?
I just started chapter 3 and I'm really torn when it comes to the doors so far. I've done all of them that I can with the exception of star door 2 cause I missed it initially. All of the door stories so far have seemed pretty unnecessary in terms of character development. A lot of what happens in the stories was already implied by earlier dialogue, and other than the small Joshua and Kloe scene, it doesn't really feel like they're expanding on or wrapping up stuff from the previous games with the door scenes. If anything, it feels like they're just stating stuff explicitly that was already mentioned in earlier scenes, like seeing Agate promise to visit Tita even though we already knew he was going to based on her lines in her story.

Long story short, do the door scenes get more meaningful or relevant later on?

A bunch of the early ones just flesh out the characters a little bit more or provide some additional information on stuff that happened before/during/after FC and SC. A lot of the later ones actually provide super important info that's used to set up the Crossbell games.

Only about two are really worth it, meaningful and relevant to the overall story arc IMO. Most of them is fun stuff, non important side stuff or history.

You have to watch them all to get one of the two meaningful ones though.

Do you even Trails bro? This is like standard fare for the series. Those little "unnecessary" bits are how the flow of the series generally progresses. It's not all going to be full serious mode all the time (and The 3rd seems to have more serious moments anyways).

That little Tita side story had more to it then just Agate btw. There's some big time Tita development in regards to what she wants to do in the future. Also Star Door 2 was just plain scary considering it's implications.

Short answer: side stories are already meaningful and relevant.

They don't really expand on anything, they are more meant to be for you to understand character better. Best one is Tita's door by quite a far margin, grade A Comedy.

Moon 1 - Tita => Comedy and further development of Tita and Agate (Good)
Moon 2 - Scherazard => About her past and time as a bracer, plus her meeting with Aina (Eh)
Moon 3 - Kloe => Her time in the academy and her development of her character, plus meeting with an important character, Lechter (Eh)
Moon 4 - Estelle and Joshua => About their past when they were kids and just first met and how Joshua ended up opening to Estelle (Good)
Moon 5 - Boring ass Happiness Stone ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. (♥♥♥♥)

The Stars and Suns are just extra. Exceptions are Star 2, that explain the Arrow that Kevin used, Star 8 introduces Chancellor Osborne and furthers Lechter story, Star 12 shows what Richard is up too.

Still have not unlocked Star 14 and 15.

Feel almost the same about this except i liked the Schera/Aina story. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Osborne/Olivert and last door are most essential IMO to see the foreshadowing for CS.

The early Doors aren't as important as later ones, but I ended up really loving Kloe's story at the academy because of how thorough you see her (and Jill) develop in new ways. Pretty much all the Moon Doors are worth a watch, but not as soon as you get them since Star Doors are quicker and can offer up plenty of great info (like in Zin's Star Door where Falcom basically sets up a likely premise for the Calvard arc).

Knowing this series, this door will likely come back and bite you in the ass a few games down the line.
All the other moon doors are clearly written for character back story. Only this one is ambiguous enough to be interpreted in multiple ways.

Have you played all of them?

I guess it depends for what reason you play those Games. For me the most important one is Worldbuilding and the Doors provide that in spades

Even something small as learning Felicity's surname makes me wanna go trough Cold Steel again and check if there's a random NPC with that name

Stuff like the Salt Pale Report are better then crack for me

I mean to each his own but ... lol

Hyperbolic much? Worldbuilding and all is great but it's there to support the story and not as a replacement for it.

I am not suprised this game has fans opinions devided. It's radically different from FC/SC in its structure and adds very little overall.

To be absolutely honest most doors feel like filler to me than genuinely important worldbuilding.

Interestingly enough, this one makes a lot more sense after Crossbell, yet also makes you really wonder wtf is going on even more. Though, as of the games currently, it still hasn't been resolved.

It looks like it's playing a huge part in the series lore, but as of CS2 (Crossbell included) we still don't have the context to fully put '2 and 2 together,' so to speak.

Star Door 14 and 15 made the entire game worth it for me.
