What engine is this running on?
I was, and still am, completely unaware of this series, which seems to have a great following!
I honestly expected this to be another RPG Maker game, but upon a closer look, the gameplay footage surprised me!

What game engine is this running on?

It's a custom-made engine made by Nihon Falcom Corporation (the creators) just for the game.

As a side-note, an old rumor was that the game ran in the same engine as several Ys games.
(Ark of Napishtim, The Oath in Felghana, and Origin.)

In reality, they look very similar and are from the same company, but they're different engines!

Sara, can you give any more info here? I am particularly interested in Ys Origin (which I've been playing actually on PS4). Such a beautiful game and I want to learn more about the animation, game engine, style, etc...

Thanks!

Oh, this isn't the exact title you were looking for, but another Trails title (Cold Steel I and II) used PhyreEngine (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PhyreEngine#Partial_list_of_studios_and_games_that_use_PhyreEngine)

Would love to get my hands on that to play around, but there's a process around doing any development for Sony platforms :/
