-It was originally Zin, Zane was a localized name.
-Immigration from Eastern countries into Calvard is big, and could be a focus of a Calvard arc of the Trails series, so having Zin and others with Eastern names could have an impact on the story there.
There is a few other changes that can be found in the link, but most aren't as major as Zane -> Zin.
I kid. Though I hate character names changing, I'm equally annoyed by the new change to the original name, and the original change to the new original name. What? You know what I mean.
Though I do think that there aren't enough things that rhyme with Zin. Zane Pain Train Brain Main Lane Reign, etc. Puns will be more difficult for me as I play. Oh well.
Calvard seems to be a mix of the United States and French Republics so perhaps he's just descended from hippies.
Zin the Hardskin. Zin the Mover of Trash Bin. Zin the Calvard Gaijin. Zin the Rean Bean Machin- wait, that's already taken.
What a nice reminder for me to call for Zin whenever I see that walking trash bin a.k.a Gilbert.
