The only girl that is Naked is Alicia.
Bigger issue is Why whenever i see her face I am reminded of Undyne.
It's a battleground, no need of being sexy or exposing the breast.
Mika looks pretty well to me, and Alicia is not bad, as her character may would dress like that. But there is no doubt that there is a pattern in most videogames where women are sexy-dressed and men have no need for it and have more practical garments. I'm pointing out the matter so hopefully someone would listen and take it into account.
Dressed means it is mostly covered --> (2 men / 2 women)
Partially Naked means its lack of some clothing (for example, the shirt) --> (1 men / 3 women)
Naked means that she's practically not covering her body at all. --> (0 men / 3 women)
As I said, this is by far not the worst game in this matter, but still it is inside this male-oriented videogames pattern.
Make your own game and add only women fully dressed then if thats your thing then.
I dont see people complaining on games FULL with women characters that there arent any Male characters.
Its a game. Get your feminism out of here.
I'm happy to know that you agree. Is something that people are so used to see that it may seem absurd to them to even consider it.
Yes! Sure, the games is theirs. But as they are very open to the players I wanted to contribute with something that usually people don't think about.
I like the game a lot and I think the devs are making a great job, and I'm eager to see how it changes over time. If this wasn't the case, I wouldn't have taken the time to write this.
This could be apparently a non so relevant point, but I think if they worked on that it would add an extra value to the game, taking care of things that others don't.
Women are half of the population (a lot of potential players!) and I have to do an effort in some games to ignore how bad we are portrayed (as I said, Raiders of the Broken Planet is not an extreme example of this).
This post is silly.
Men and women bodies are sexualized differently. Men are not objectified has women are. I won't give a detailed explanation as I don't think this is the place to do it (internet is full of that information if you want to check it)
Still, Lycus character is saying "I dont give a damn about anything" so that he is naked in one scene and don't give a damn could be seen as part of building the character. BUT you don't fight with him naked in the battlefield.
Already read plenty of Feminism. .I suggest you start reading some Lacan, Heidegger, and Hegel if you haven't and Roald Dahl, maybe some surrealist writers like Andre Breton too. .Carl Jung. .Gertude Stein. .Will put perspective on why you're pandering a video game forum for overt sexualizing of video game characters in the first place. .hopefully some understanding of the sign and signifier you're talking about beyond a feminist take on it all. You interpret what you want out of things.
However, we can't ignore the fact that it's focused on women mostly in terms of nudity. Just my 2 cents.
Why is this not the place? You've brought up the issue of objectification and claim you want to engage in a dialog about it or enlighten others about its presence in gaming then don't want to bother elaborating...?
Though I do think some of the female character's outfits are absurd / over the top sexualized.
The most sexualized character in the game is Lycus who runs around with his 8- pack, and his pants practically falling off like some kind of demonic Abercrombie and Fitch model. Hell he is naked in the prologue cutscenes...
The game is going for a quasi-Anime aesthetic. For example, Alicia's normal outfit seems to be a reference to Cowboy Bebop's Faye who dressed that way as a sort of tool for her Femme Fatale character. Not saying they had to go that route but I just tend to see it that the characters in the game world aren't as hung up on sexual stuff, hell most of them are barely-human-cyborg-demon-people.
At least they didn't go full on yoga booty like in Overwatch where you can practically give the female characters an OBGYN exam as they move around haha
If you cannot get past that aesthetic it just might not be the game for you, which is a shame because the game desperately needs a bigger player base.
Also sorry that others are mocking you...but yeah there are multiple other female characters announced and I am sure they are going to be in body suits etc (they aren't running around naked no matter how many times you say it)
This is a videogame forum, and Im making an observation about a videogame that I like (as I said, if this wasnt the case, I wouldnt have taken the time to write anything at all).
If I've read or not any of all those writers doesn't really have any relation with what I was saying in the first place. I have no intention at all right now to open a debate about feminism in videogames.
Im a women and I would appreciate that a videogame that I like would improve the way it portraits women (which is not so bad at all in this case, has I've said, but I still feel that is it male-oriented), so I could like it even more.
I've noticed that there are some women officials in the third chapter, and that Uras-Beherit speaks in a woman voice some times in the last chapter. And Alicia is pretty cool.
So, as I've seen that they're open to players suggestions and are introducing some things in this way, I made an observation.
I would love to have a dialog about the matter, but It's pretty common that when someone talks about something related to feminism, nothing will be clarified and there will be many disrespectful comments, so I want to try to avoid that at all cost.
There are lots of information on the internet on this matter if someone wants to know more. If someone wants me to explains something about what I said I'll be happy to give an explanation about my thoughts, as long as it is respectfully asked (saying "this post is silly" for example is not a respectful way to dialog).
