"I have 2 fixes for this exact issue. Just a preface, this seems to be an issue with windows 11 for most people. In my case, my computer also came with intel iris XE graphics. It only supports DirectX 12 and uses backwards compatibility for every thing else. This results in broken video rendering.
1st fix is to download dgvoodo2. After extracting the download there will be a folder labeled MS. In there will be folder labled ×86. In that folder is a bunch of .dll files that you will copy into the game install folder (usually c:/program file x86/nancy drew/"game name"). Once that's done you should see the dgvoodoo2 logo on the bottom right of screen when running the game. If you get lost in any of these steps there are guides in the dgvoodoo2 folder. This method has worked for almost all nancy drew games that have rendered issues in newer versions of windows. What this does is emulate old graphics card that support glide and old directx and passes it to your modern gpu. It works on most games except The Silent Spy. My fix for that is...
2nd fix is to use DXVK to convert DirectX 9 to Vulkan api. Just like dgvoodoo, you'll download and extract the files. In the x32 folder find the d3d9.dll file and copy it into the game install folder. You know it works when the flickering stops. I have not tested this method a whole lot yet but it worked for The Silent Spy when dgvoodo would cause the game to crash in certain scenes. This converts DirectX 9/10/11 to Vulkan that is supported by many new gpus."
