16:9 resolutions too zoomed in, cut off top and bottom of screen (including health/ammo and radar)

I bought this game on a lark after watching a compilation of old obscure FPS games on youtube and seeing that this was on steam.

The general jankiness is actually kind of amusing, but I found that I can't really play the game in 16:9 resolution, because the display is too zoomed in, cutting off the top and buttom parts of the screen with the radar and health/ammo display.

I can play in the game in 4:3 resolution and still be high-def because my monitor happens to support 1920x1440, but it leaves the left and right side of my screen as black bars. I'd really like to play this game in 16:9, especially since the game is supposed to support it.

Anybody happen to know how to fix this issue? Thanks.

Highest res I've found that I can go to without any of the HUD getting cut off is 1280x1024. Any more than that will cut off a bit of the screen. There's a few resolutions below that that'll actually cut off the screen as well. Really odd, but not a huge deal I guess.

can confirm. 1280x1024 is best res to use. 1440x900 leaves all information needed but cuts off very badly.

im on 2560x1440 and the game looks nice at this res, its simple enough to not require the bits that are cut off...
