The compilation is atrocious for numerous reasons past the censorship:


the original blue reflection is gutted, now, we already knew that it would be censored and we know that many of the ogs scenes would not fly today, but theres extra changes like the removal of transparency and the removal of all dlc outfits (half of which were casual summer outfits not fanservice ouffits as well as the summer outing events) that are going overboard, its a bit too much, other than that its somehow the game that survived with most of its content out of this collection


The ray walking sim is a joke, the devs didnt even bother licensing any music from the anime or having any scenes from it, just static images, its very short too not even worth looking at, there are characters such as Nina, Miyako, Momo, etc who also didnt make it past brief mentions or screenshots from the show, the only ones important enough to be really included were Mio and Shiino, for the 10 minutes of screentime they get of course.


→The sun "port" is barebones at best, it doesnt include a single event from the game besides the hinako one, only the main story with some boss battles, the og gacha had lots and lots of events such for each heroine and other characters that came to visit the main cast as well as christmas, summer events etc, these are all gone including the art made for these too
→There are lots of cuts in the main story, lots of cutscenes were outight removed making the pacing feel very rushed
→Sun might as well be an autobattler since it doesnt have any progression, no outfits or extra content from the gacha, the girls dont even get any of the development they get in the og game and the MCs role is reduced too

Its so incomplete it doesnt even include the opening/title screen cutscene, overall a mediocre way to experience SUN


Tie has not been censored, now its lacking almost all dlc, so the 3 extra areas and the ether synthesis mechanic are missing, thats a big chunk of gameplay and cutscenes gone, the swimsuit for Ao is included which is puzzling since the point was to reduce fanservice, if Aos revealing swimsuit is in why cut every other outfit including the ryza and sophie costumes as well as the bunny hat accessories etc. it just makes no sense
The extra characters from SUN are welcome but their inclusion is jarring at best, Rukas inclusion is handled the same way, theres characters such as Mio and Uta who are very relevant to Tie and do have fully modeled reflector forms who shouldve been added instead, but that would mean spending the tiniest bit of budget into giving them attack animations and dialogue to fit into the game, ofc they wouldnt do that.


※in conclusion the compilation is not a celebration of the franchise as advertised but a lazy cashgrab to gauge interest in the series, the game is so cheap the title screen is just a low quality asset jpg from the skybox of second lights school, they didnt even bother to animate it, its a static image, the ray title screen is just as bad, just a poorly rendered screenshot of the only new area they made for that segment, what a shame

Another wonderful example of Steam Deck Verified meaning nothing. Take the first game for example; it *can* hit 60fps, but a lot of the time it struggles being around 24fps to 27fps even though the GPU and CPU usage are around 60%. Especially in certain rooms in the school or the 1st floor hallway.

Good old Gust again, can't optimise a game to save their lives.

As huge fan of this series, I think with this price, it's really worth to grab this on. However if you are concerned about game's censorship, it's NOT THAT HUGE that other people keeps babbling about. You can still see some upskirt stuff (no modest shorts etc), girls in swimsuits etc but only few cutscenes and some stuffs has been altered like changing room scene and some bath scenes in first game, along with white clothing doesn't get translucent when getting wet. But if that's deal breaker, then wait for the original BLUE REFLECTION and BLUE REFLECTION TIE: Second Light sales then but I definitely recommending this pack since it has biggest value.

Turn-Based JRPG, school life, melancholic themes, Dungeon exploration

This game has some nice quality of life changes from original version as it now has proper resolution picker in options as you don't need anymore set custom resolution via config file as original game's launcher only supported up to 1080p only, as current in-game options has support to 4K as well. Now you can skip majority of cutscenes but not pre-rendered ones and you have faster walking speed as option too, making exploring faster. Some cutscenes has been altered and censored, showing bit less skin than usual but scenes itself hasn't been removed so you aren't missing any context. This game has decent turn-based combat with really customizable skills and stats for each Reflectors, allowing fun build options for each characters and skills. Also this game has one of best boss fights in generally that even TIE: Second Light slightly lacked. The soundtrack of this game is one of the best as well, one of best what Hayato Asano has been done for GUST. Really melancholic game as well story wise.

Walking simulator, Movie (Flashback style narrative)

Walking simulator that tells events of RAY (anime of BLUE REFLECTION RAY) in memory fragments inside The Common (World formed by the collective unconsciousness of humans.) in really shortened style with "flashbacks" style of narrative. Includes some anime still screenshots and some new 3D modeled cutscenes occasionally. I definitely recommend to watch RAY anime first then likely tackling on this one. I haven't watched this fully so don't know how much they cover RAY's anime in this version. Might update this section later on when managing to watch this one till end.

ATB based JRPG, "Mission based", "Mobile game"

Mobile game that has been de-gachafied, doesn't include any exploration in the world but has really streamlined story and character interactions in school. You send your selected party of Reflectors that you can choose in menu then going in "Mission" to watch cutscenes into few fights. You can custom your party with different Reflectors and game uses TIE: Second Light's combat which is really great. Game itself is really streamlined now and it feels bit more lite game than actual full game since it's based from gacha mobage. Also it features Shiho (one of my fav Reflector) so it's great and some other nice Reflectors too. Personally, I'm recommending playing TIE: Second Light first mainly since it teaches you more properly how to use TIE: Second Light's combat system but that's in my opinion, you can play in chronological order too if you want. Also TIE: Second Light explains SPOILER about Ash and Ashen World around near over middle way of the game which Shiho and many others fought and try to find cure for it SPOILER END

ATB based JRPG, Base building/improvement, Dating sim, Dungeon exploration

From original games, I liked TIE: Second Light the most as it has nice exploration, nice characters (Shiho is best girl!). Combat system is definitely one of GUST's best jrpg combats so far that I really wish that they are using this kind of combat more in Atelier games rather than Yumia style combat. Game has some "base building" features that you will be bulding facilities in school grounds and improving school to get certain buffs, items and new dating options as well. You will be exploring the different worlds and it has some nice visuals too. This game has brand new content as well that expands game even bigger with few new characters.

BLUE REFLECTION (Definitely great way to start whole series to get idea how story's world works in this series)
BLUE REFLECTION RAY (Anime first if you want, otherwise really shortened story of RAY in "game". Otherwise you can also hop on TIE right on too then later revisit RAY, either Anime or this shortened story)
BLUE REFLECTION TIE: Second Light (Originally, I did that played TIE while watching RAY anime same time since TIE features some characters from RAY)
BLUE REFLECTION SUN (I recommend this after TIE since TIE teaches combat system more properly while SUN has really vague tutorials about it)


Both BLUE REFLECTION and BLUE REFLECTION TIE: Second Light got really good quality of life changes and with this price, it's definitely worth to grab this collection. Otherwise if you are concerned about censorship and not having some DLCs, then wait for the original games+dlc sales but you likely still paying up lots of money because KOEI TECMO pricings.

+Good quality of life changes for BR and BR TIE: SL, such as cutscene skipping, Terminology button when lore dumping highlighted terms, Auto-save, turbo speed function in combat, faster walking speed option, proper resolution picker, fixed typos and added proper translations for each games, Playstation controller icons if using PS controller etc.
+Good pricing for current whole series (KOEI TECMO usually not giving this much for this price)
+Tons of content and lore to consume, has great "REFERENCE" section that updates in real time when advancing on each games, such as flowcharts that follows character relations towards others between games too and many more.


-Censorship on some cutscenes and some other (can be dealbreaker for many likely but not for me.)
-Not including majority of DLCs that original games had (A lot costumes are missing etc)
-SUN can be feeling bit lackluster when comparing to BR and TIE: SL due not having any proper exploration in world, even though it uses TIE: SL combat system in fights. Might later on revisit this cons when finishing SUN.
