Resetting the game

What does resetting the game do? I wanted to restart the room I was in, but wasn't sure if I was able to, and thought that resetting meant that the whole game would be reset and I would have to restart the game from the beginning.
Can anyone tell me which it is?

I would like to know this as well.
Also, I had all the ingredients for a recipe but mixed them in the wrong order and did not see a "reset" button; I started the chapter over.
Is there a button I missed?

I'm surprised too. I had to reset three times to double check a puzzle series to document for a group a group play tomorrow on Discord; I moved the plays away from PF.
You know why.
The dev of Scratches approached me about it and it seemed like a good idea :-)
