This. Me too. Also the nostalgia keeps me playing it. I played TTD already like 20 years ago. The good old tunnel money cheat ... :D
This one here only seems like it but actually less "done". Like it works on modern OS and it looks good and so on but not as if it has already as much effort put into it to expand on the basic idea.
I guess for now i stick to OTTD. At the moment it seems to me that OTTD is more open and gives me more possibilities to do what i want with it while this seems to be more barebones.
Google it =) It is so good, you can also google "OpenTTD portable" to run it from a flashdrive.
It's even available on android! From dev "pelya" (On which I advise you NOT to check HD graphics, as most mid-range devices will not be able to handle this. and I think even high-end devices might not get smooth gameplay)
Simutrans is not Open TTD, nor is it from the same people who make Open TTD. It is a similar type of game to Open TTD, but is different in a number of significant ways: for example, in Simutrans, the passengers each have specific destinations.
In TT you set one vehicle to drive to set stations. You can set a unique route for every vehicle you own there, skipping stations or doing all of them on a route. You dont have "lines" that could merge a profit. In TT every vehicle does either profit or cost too much to be worth having. Its shown for every single vehicle.
So when you have lets say 6 bus stations in 5 cities and you own 20 personal transport vehicles, you can set routes for every vehicle and combine in which order they drive to these stations and which stations. Following your comment the game then would show me a "line" and its profits, which is not how it is done in TT, sorry but you are wrong. Out of these 20 transporters there could be 4 that make no profit because i have them skip a essential station, the game then shows me in a window how much they cost me a month and i can decide to scrap the route.
Edit: Found it: https://wiki.openttd.org/Negative_income_with_feeder_service this ruins the whole game.
