Aerofly FS 2 Flight Simulator

Aerofly FS 2 Flight Simulator

No sound in Aerofly FS2.
Everything was working fine, until I started pressing keyboard keys to see what effect they had on the simulator. I don't remember which key or combination of keys caused my problem or if a key press was even the cause of the problem. When I started up the Cessna 172 there was no audio and there was 2 lines of graphics information displaying at the bottom left of the screen. I tried other planes and its the same thing. I tried uninstalling and verifying integrity after reinstall but there was no change. All other games work correctly. I restarted AFS2 many times and the audio came back only one time, but those weird graphics lines are always there displaying something about fps things I don't know. Somebody please help me get my sound back.

The key you accidently pressed would be "Q", which enables/disables audio.

I knew the Q is bound to toggle sound off and on. I wish the problem was that simple but it's not, and neither am I.

My guess is that I somehow turned on a debugging or analysis mode which might explain the live fps type of information that appeared at the bottom left hand side of the screen at the same time the sound stopped. And why did it work again only one time out of the 20 or so times restarting the simulator?

I deleted the main mcf file and those fps lines at the bottom left disappeared but still no sound.

Why your RUDE answer? steinr13 just tried to help you. If you want help, be NICE first! ;-)

One more integrity verification and the sound is back. I restarted the simulator 3 times and it's still working. I think the mcf file has something to do with settings but I don't know what is really going on. I'm just glad the sound is back. I can only hope it stays that way, and I will be more careful any settings I change, intentional or accidental.
Maybe somebody can recommend a good book to learn how programs like AFS2 work.

And thank you Steinr13 for trying to help. Nobody else did. From your profile picture I assume that you are a military guy or a gun enthusiast. I am a big fan and owner of AR15 and 1911 and games like Half Life and Arma 3.

One more thing, I just noticed Mathias' comment and he is right and really quite tactful. I came off a little bit rude out of frustration, disappointment, and not liking to be helpless. Nobody on these forums should be subject to this type of personal issues.

its all good brother...and i understand your frustration. The only other advice I could offer would be to opt out of beta version if you have it enabled. Peace is our Profession - Salute!

The sound stopped two more times. I did nothing irregular and the simulator was restarting good all day. The next morning, no sound. I tried verifying file integrity, deleted main mcf file and several complete computer restarts. Then mysteriously one more FS2 restart and the sound is back. I did notice that during the successful restart the simulator took twice as long to load as if the computer was doing things like loading sound files or something I guess I'll never know what is going on. It is maddening and hardly worth fiddling around for an hour to get the sound back, not even knowing what is happening, to fly again.
Maybe There is a way to log a computer session of this sound malfunction and an expert can determine how to correct it, but I am completely stumped, dumbfounded, and ready to give up. But when it works , I love this game.

It was working perfect. I made no changes or adjustments. Turned game off and started again with no sound. Q button toggles sound normally when the sound is working but when it starts with no sound the Q key does nothing. The game was great when it worked but I wouldn't recommend this game to anybody.

I think I'm on to something. I shut down Steam and restarted my computer, then started up Steam again and when I started FS2 it took long to load again and the sound was back. So I'm thinking the problem is in how the game loads or how my computer starts, I don't know. But no other game or program has sound issues so it must be how AFS2 is loading. Does anyone have any ideas?

The sound is back and has stayed working ever since I disconnected my tv that I was using as a monitor via HDMI cable. Everything else works with the tv set-up but for some reason AFS2 doesn't. It's no biggie; as long as the sound is on.
I hope my experience helps anyone that has the same problem.

I don’t play any games but my son does. I downloaded this game from Steam and bought a Thrustmaster 16000m joystick. We can’t get any sound on the game. Can anyone pls help with simple instructions for a technophobe?
