I don't think I'd main this until payware/freeware starts coming in and more US scenery, but I would love to support it.
No there is no demo, but its a great sim, and will be even better in the future, free extra updates, scenery's and planes/helicopters are coming, and also payware addons👍so my advice.....buy it and enjoy😃😃😃😃
I wasn't aware of this (I'm not on Steam very much). Thanks!
I don't think that 2 hours of game play is quite enough - but that isn't widely known to non Steam users. I am trying to get as many VR users interested in FS2 as possible by comparing it to other flight sims on various forums - noting the performance especially of FS2. Please make the 2 hours of game trial visible on your web page. Your sim is twice as fast as Prepar3d/FSX and that makes a HUGE difference with VR!

< 2 hrs to try some titles is a bit short but alas those are the rules.
For that reason have a test plan, what do you want to see / try to make sure you want to keep the title, make sure you can clear 2 hours in your schedule, no 30 min AFK's etc... or if so quit the game and make sure Steam registers you as having exited so the timer / counter stops.
Just some ideas.
I can play just about any game at ultra settings with decent framerates but many of the recent flight sims crawl at low fps and stutter like mad
I'd even be willing to give up some realism for a good looking sim that just runs plain smooth and makes it look like you are really doing 100 - 300 knots and not 30 - 40 mph.
I get realism is necessary but what good is it if it lookes like you are watching a slide show and makes it feel like you are at running instead of flying speed.
Even tried the new x-plane 11, wow, terrible framerates, not to mention that during the initial lesson you can control things just fine but when you get into regular flying most controls seem to be ignored.
Edited for spelling (gasp).
Aerofly FS2 is for you - get it now (well, get Steam first). Make sure you have 100gb of SDD space somewhere on your PC so you can have the free DLC of highres photoreal everywhere in the Southwest US. FS2 is the ONLY fast frame flight sim (great for VR) other than War Thunder which is fun for just flying around in Spitfire's and P-38s - but where the ground, although detailed, is somewhat synthetic looking - not photoreal.
I have steam, lol, what made you think I didn't?
Anyway, regardless, I will grab it, next week, hoping for a sale, not trying to penny pinch as they say but funds are a bit tight truth be told.
I had a feeling this game/sim was going to be better in the performance department, from reading and watching a few videos.
That much free hdd/ssd space eh, ouch, mine are all quite full, may need a new one then.
Worse case scenario I have a pretty decent WD Black HDD that is good on performance I can use until I can get another SSD.
I have TrackIR equivalent gear, no VR yet.
I appreciate the feedback!
Have fun - even if you have to return it. If you want to start with just the highres around the cities, the default initial FS2 load, you only need about 30gb but maybe your HDD will be alright. Those of us with the SDD are amazed at how quick it loads up. Without VR, with some kind of an i7, you should see over 200fps in most areas (maybe try 120fps Vsync) - the slowest is downtown San Francisco. I don't run with lots of cumulus clouds and my graphics settings are high, high, rest are medium - not ultra. Enjoy the fluid flying!
Well, if you can get 500 kbps (0.5 mega bits-per-second), you can download in about 80 hours. I took me about 5 hours to get the 30gb and another 8 hours to get the rest. I would go ahead and start it if you can.
WOW - I looked at the map and there are least volcanoes there - which one are you living near?
