Error starting Aerofly Fs2
I have just purchased and installed Aerofly Fs2. Download was approx 108GB however when attempting to start the program I am almost immediately presented with the error message "Aerofly FS2 Flight Simulator main executable has stopped working", when checking the error problemm I get APPCRASH, program Aerofly_fs_2.exe. Not a great start I must admit. System is Win 7, 16GB ram, Amd Phenom x4 965 Black processor, Nvidia driver Geforce 341.92. Any suggestions on how to start the program.

341.92 is an older driver. What is your GPU (graphics card)? This may very well be your problem.

Unfortunately This graphic card is not going to work with Aerofly FS 2.
You are going to need at least an OpenGL 3.0 compatible 3D graphic card with at least 1 GB of RAM
Looking at your system specs that you mentioned, I would highly recommend looking at a complete comupter upgrade as the Phenom CPU is also questionable.

Many thanks for your reply, I have been thinking of a new computer but am in the process of moving over the next few weeks so I'll leave it until I finish the move.

As a follow up to my non starting AeroflyFs2 problem I updated my Nvidia driver to the latest 342.01 and then downloaded Glview to check the Opengl process being used. According to this program the graphics rendering are as follows:

Renderer GeForce 9800 GT/PCIe/SSE2
Adapter Ram 1024 MB
Monitor Viewsonic VX2433wm
Display 1920 x 1080 x 32bpp (60hz)
Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate
Processor AMD Phenom II X4 965 Processor, Irwindale, Family fh, Model 4h, Stepping 3h

The Opengl is listed as follows:

Version 3.3
Driver Version 21.21.13.4202
Forceware 21.21.13.4201

this appears to me to indicate that Opengl 3.3 is being used which seems to cast a little doubt on the graphics card as the problem. The program will still not activate.

I had considered upgrading the graphics card and also the complete computer but need to check out Aerofly2 before spending too much as this will be the only Flight Sim that I will use. This machine previously ran FTX, Prepar3d etc with a lot of Orbx scenery additions without any problems, so to me it seems pretty capable. Would appreciate some more advice if possible to allow me to start this process.

I did run the file integrity test yesterday which seemed to turn out ok.

I'm holding at your video card. The NVidia specs for the 9800 GT is API at OpenGL 2.1 and DirectX 10. The spec'd model that I seen on the 9800 GT as 512Mb but I do believe that the 1GB card was made available so I will assume that you have that version (as seen in your specs). This card is not powerful enough to run FS 2 . Also, i'm still not sure even about your CPU, and since I can't test that particular model I can't confirm if it can also be your issue (Maybe someone else with that config can verify this). I've tested many different systems for compatability with FS 2 but for this one I don't have that GPU here anymore.

I have a NVidia Quadro FX3800 GraphikCard.
Work this Card with AeroFly FS2?

I am still pondering this problem and have a question which is 'Why does Aerofly not list any error condition which is causing the program to crash', I find it rather difficult to accept that the program just crashes, an error message stating 'incompatible graphics card' or a simple message as to where the program actually crashed would be a starting point for determining where the problem exists.

In order to attempt to fix the problem I will probably purchase a new Gigabyte GTX 1060 Xtreme Gaming 6GB video card, however it does seem like shooting in the dark and could be a waste of $500+ if the game still does not start.

As an aside I have no intention of asking for a refund even if I never get the program to work, not my style. But I really would like to know why this program doesn't seem to even get past the opening code line, there is a possibility that the start options page displays for a fraction of a second prior to the program crash..

This is the crash information provided by the Microsoft crash report which doesn't seem to say much. Just a question is the Application version 2.0.1.0 correct?.

Rather disappointed that no reply to my previous message has surfaced, not much good having forums if such important problems as the software not starting with no specific error messages as to the cause are deemed unimportant.

I agree with Jeff, that your graphics card may cause the problem. The same is for the Quadro FX 3800.
aerofly writes a protocoll into this file c:\users\yourname\aerofly fs 2\tm.log

This file may help to find the error, perhaps it's necessary to be published.

Just tried to post the tm.log file to the Aerofly support but after writing a report on the problem and attaching the tm.log file the error message "You are not allowed to send this file format" and in trying to remove it I lost the whole damn thing.

The steam version was installed to Drive K on my machine and I noticed that the log stated that the config file was missing from Drive C and it created several files on Drive C which seems rather strange to me.

The log file details are below if anyone can make sense of them although it does appear to me to run into trouble when loading GL extensions.
