You can get the first game on BigFIsh Games for 2.99$ USD if you want to. The Aveyond games share almost nothing except maybe the same universe, but not the same world. Only the third one whitch is more of 4 games are actually related. Also the first one is not an easy game by any means, it is also decently harsh but it is still really fun if you can get over the early difficulty ramp.
The second one is amazing and is alot more forgiving but still difficult, but again doesnt relate to the others in really any way either than an off-hand comment about it.
One last thing, I might be forgetting alot about them both because its been atleast a few years since I played them but I am sure that you dont need to play 1 to play 2 or play either of them to play 3-1 to 3-4, they are all pretty standalone games with the same combat/storytelling style.
Oh and if you really want to play the whole series there is a 'prequel' called Ahriman's Prophecy.
Given that all chapters are almost independent, I´ll play first Aveyond 4 and then we will see.
Pricing a game is difficult these days. When we started out 10 years ago, the average price of an indie game was $20 and the average price of a game like Witcher 3 was $80. Prices have spiraled down for everyone. It's tough to make a living as a game developer these days.
But now Aveyond 4 is fairly priced IMO. Why not do the same with old chapters? It is sort of obvious that, if Aveyond 4 costs now 11.99€, Aveyond 1-3 should cost a bit less. Say, 8´99€ each. Perhaps there are some aspects of this issue that I am missing, but I do not see where is the difficulty.

Amaranth, I am not sure if you are the dev. If so, then, besides the price absurdity, I want to congratulate you for the charming, intelligent and creative way of your games. After playing them I realize how foreseeable and trashy scripts have most of the hype RPGs.

By the way. I have read somewhere that Bigfish version of Aveyond 1 is not exactly the same that the one at aveyond.com. It seems that Bigfish is an earlier version and hasn´t mouse support. Can someone corfirm this?

I crave these. But I hope that one day I could buy them without feeling somewhat cheated or even ridiculous. Perhaps a Steam release?
