i think recently a few years ago they did say that the rights reverted to another studio from Barracuda & GTE & they discussed a possible revive but said that sadly myst which was the inspiration behind timelapse eventually took over the PNC adventure genre and became widely popular that they just couldn't agree on the timing of things and if it felt right to revive the PNC adventure genre given PNC is a genre that just doesn't sell anymore there's not a lot of PNC adventures on the market anymore people aren't buying into that
i'd love to see a remake with the gameplay & graphics rebuilt & expanded with new puzzles because this game does feel short with 4hrs completion time
i am even curious to know if a sequel or expanded version what others feel world wise could have been featured
rome?
greek?
Constantinople
Mongols
norse?
england during the crusade?
They touched on the Navajo people in the first game, but Turtle Island's peoples are extremely diverse. They could easily have the Lakota, Iroquois, Chickasaw, Blackfoot, or any number of other indigenous peoples from the same land in the sequel.
An especially interesting idea would be the Croatan or Roanoke people, what with having direct ties to the Lost Colony. Imagine if the sequel had the player try to figure out what happened to a bunch of colonists from the late 16th century as part of the larger plot. That seems like it would fit right into the feel of the game, imo - as if the contact from the aliens of Atlantis had never really gone away completely.
Of course, there's another aspect to all this. We did get stuck over in Atlantis, right? The name Homeworld suggests we're likely going to be searching for the world that the Atlanteans went to, or otherwise trying to find our way back to our home on Earth.
I really would like to see a sequel to this. Having originally played it back in middle school, and having a huge impact on my desire to learn about various cultures throughout the world (and also being indigenous Cherokee myself), I always loved seeing what people could do with history and what new stories they could tell with it.
I hope, one day, the sequel does get some light shed on it. If not a direct sequel being made, a spiritual successor would be nice too.
