DARQ
I Don't Get It...
Maybe it's my age showing, but I don't understand "Darq" but more recently the new chapter "The Crypt."
I understand that if someone were explain it here, it will lead to spoiling the new chapter, let alone the video game as a whole. Maybe the developers could help me understand in a private message?

Hey Denny, thank you for writing! DARQ has a story, yet it’s hidden from the plain sight behind symbolism and hints, and it is not meant to be communicated in a straightforward way as in other games. It’s open to interpretation on purpose. However, there is the story - my version of the story - and it will soon be shared in the comic book format (coming out in 2021). It will be available both as a physical release and digital download.

Are you saying the very ending of the new chapter "The Crypt" will be explained? Because what I saw really makes no sense to me. I understand the guy we control is someone that can control their dreams, at least that much that much I understand. My office IT guy says there are hidden "dream journals" that I can find. Will those help me me understand better?

All 9 levels will be explained in the comic book, including The Crypt. The comic book actually is called DARQ: Dream Journal. The in-game dream journal pages are for achievements only, they don’t reveal any details of the story. The real dream journal is the comic book.

I have to buy a comic book to understand the video game. I don't read comic books so I guess I'll just have to miss out. I appreciate your hard work and am glad your video game is successful, however I shouldn't have to pay MORE money.
Perhaps it's my fault for missing clues while playing, that explain everything or to an extent. You are the developer and the creator, so in my opinion your version of the story is paramount. To have to pay more money just to get your version (of your own story) doesn't sit well with me.

Many people like to theorize about games, and DARQ is one of those games that are intentionally designed to be open to interpretation, not unlike Limbo, INSIDE, Little Nightmares, and many others in this genre. There are YouTubers who have entire channels dedicated to theory videos - it’s a part of the fun. I appreciate the fact that you’re curious about my version of the story. I chose to share my version through a comic book.

The game has all the info in it that is necessary to decipher its meaning - it’s not easy, but someone had contacted me before sharing their theory and to my surprise, they were 100% correct about all the details of the plot. In other words, you don’t have to pay more money to get my version of the story.

The comic book is a separate side project - it will expand on what’s presented in the game, introduce new characters, locations, and mostly show things that are not in the game, what happens before and after events shown in DARQ. While reading the comic book will provide a clear explanation to the game’s meaning, it goes far beyond doing just that. It’s a treat for those who like this art form. It will cost a few bucks, to cover the costs of production.

If comic books are not your thing, you don’t have to buy it. You always have the option to explore the game on your own and carefully analyze its contents. Or simply wait until the comic book is released and look up the game’s analysis on reddit / forums / YouTube.
