You buy only to play the original Heliborne, which is an excellent game.
That about sums it up - sadly.
Without beating a dead horse this has been the complaint ever since the game was sold by the original developer to the present one. Scroll through the conversations in the forum and you'll see that the enhanced version has been a total bust since day one. Even being ported to XBox hasn't saved the enhanced version. As stated stick with the original. At least until the devs get it in their heads that they aren't done screwing with that and muck it up as well.
