Game Crashing/Freezing on First Movie

I know it is a long shot, but any help is appreciated since I can't play the game at all with this bug. When starting a new game, about 2 or 3 seconds into the starting movie, it freezes and can't go any farther. Unfortunately it freezes while "still loading " so it won't let me skip it. I have tried the following things to correct it and no luck:

Run as Admin
Every Compatibility mode
Downloaded Codec Packs
Downloaded C++ redistributables
Deleted the opening movie (just resulted in a frozen green screen)
Renaming other movies in the folder to the opening movie (would start playing the other movie but would freeze within 2-3 seconds like the original opening movie, so it seems like its not the opening movie itself but an underlying issue)
Changed Vsync/resolution
Change the .exe affinty in the task manager
Disabled all steam overlays, cloud sync, etc.
Reinstalled(another HDD as well)/verified game integrity


Any other suggestions or help is appreciated as I've reached the end of what I could think to do. I would love to actually be able to play the game again.

Currently using a ryzen 5950x and an 1080ti (hopeful that a GPU upgrade, if I can ever snag one, may resolve the issue??)

If someone out there has a save file that's past the first cut scene that should be enough to fix this

Dang, sorry to hear you're having the same issue. I've looked for a long time on trying to find a solution and have never had any luck, i reinstall the game every so often to give it another go but still have the same problem every time.

I didn't unfortunately. I pretty much exhausted everything I know to try. Still didn't work when I finally got a new GPU either. My guess is that it just doesn't agree with the hardware or some setting on our PCs.

its crazy that I was able to play this in 2020 but now I am unable to in 2022

Did you ever get the patch? It fixed a lot of issues with the game. Can't tell you where to get it on here, but it's easy to find

Did you ever fix this? I am having the exact same issue and I also have a 5950x. I am wondering if it's a Ryzen issue because on my older intel PC it worked fine.

No I didn't :( I've tried everything I can think of. I agree with you though, I think it's just an issue where the game doesn't agree with some of the hardware.

I'm having the issue too I played the game not long after I bought it last year and it played fine now its freezing after I beat the first game I do have a save file after the first cutscene

Update so for me personally I changed
My install location from one of my other harddrives to my main one they are all internal but I used the one my os is installed on

You sir are my hero! I tried to install it on my OS drive and it WORKED!!!!! I had tried other drives before but not the one with the OS. I can't believe it. Thanks so much!!!!!!!

Requisition to Game MUA2 PC Run for AMD Processors, need to change on Ryzen Master Game Mode, to Legacy Compatibility Mode, By doing this the game will work perfectly and will not crash in the first cutscene.
