For All The Cry Babies About Unofficial Patch[Fix]
Here's the link to downgrade WBC3 to the last official patch, you know, back when the game was even more bug ridden, imbalanced(not that there's anything wrong with permanent summoning, but it makes the game much, much easier), and archaicly programmed. Have fun, ignoramuses: http://www.infinite-interactive.com/forum/showthread.php?524-1-03-Game-Text-and-Patch-Data

Have the CD version . Just can´t play it on this modern computer . It installs fine and loads up fine , but there are ZERO units . The last 2 computers I have had , it was the same thing . Only other way to get to play it again , was this Steam version . If there will ever be a patch , so we can play the original version on newer machines with units in the game , I will absolutely play that instead . No way this version matches up to the original .

The link here is likely as close as it is going to get. Not perfect maybe but better than almost anything else I have found. Don't let TheSpaniards taunting put you off as they are unable to understand why a lot of people hate them.

Who do you think posted the link? I don't care if people hate me for saying what I've said, it's all been very mild so it's likely immature children that are upset.

I was talking about my own checking including this forum. Intikhab had also linked the patches and I just clarified what people had to do here. The name of this post has it's merits in getting peoples attention but don't cry when people say they disagree with you.

There we no real imbalances in the old game apart from 100% critical rate at high level and Divination if you knew what you were doing early on. Changes to the gameplay may as well make it the next in the series but don't expect people to agree with someone who judges others on an assumtion.

People especially newer players will generally take the first solution that presents itself in a strategy game however in this one there is always a counter. I kill any warrior that rushes my base and laugh at any mage that tries to destroy my army. These are not cheats or imbalances I know what I am doing and so do the old players. Try to beat them at their own game before making any judgements I have and it was hard regardless of races being used. When you have I may just take your ranting seriously in these forums. Until then I have nothing more to say to you as you just like to jump on peoples arguements shouting at them until they give up.

Don't expect me to not be there occassionally to pluck up others spirits when you cannot make a proper arguement and don't bother to read what is actually written. If you need to practice your English or have trouble getting your point across in an arguement then write a guide. I have and refer to it often although it is still not complete yet.

I'm pretty sure the invisible unit problem can be fixed by setting the game's compatibility mode to Windows XP

Sorry to hear that. It works for me everytime, on every PC I've owned, and I'm sad to hear that that's not the case for everyone.

Can someone explain how to downgrade to the official 1.3 patch, i've put the patch.xcr and game.txt files in the correct location but it still plays the game the same.

The 1.00 to 1.03 official patch wont run either due to it not being able to locate the game cd.

Regards.

Start the game from "Battlecry IIIb.exe" (may want to create a shortcut)
This is done by going into the game folder
Steam/steamapps/common/warlords battlecry III/

The standard method of starting the game will start in the unofficial version so you can if you want jump between versions as you like.

Am i doing something wrong, it still starts in the unofficial version when i try it?

In short download
103 Stuff - from the top of the page
Version103FIX - down the page a bit

Place the data files over the steam library files (no renaming needed just extract and place)
Right click on the file "Battlecry IIIb.exe" an go into properties
Go to the compadibility tab and make sure it is on Windows XP (either service pack)
Start the game from "Battlecry IIIb.exe" (may want to create a shortcut)

Sorry should have posted the whole explanation earlier. If you cannot seem to find it go to my guide linked the stuff you need for the official version at the near the bottom of the guide along with how to get the game running on modern computers. That may be easier for you.

No body hacked the game, it's source code was given by devs.
Gog right now and for a long time now is selling 1.03 version of the game. Atleast get the facts stright about things.

We're all obviously talking about the version that WBC3 comes with on Steam, after all we're here on a Steam Forum talking about it.

WBC3 on Steam comes with some crappy mod that breaks magic. Maybe there are a few items to compensate somewhat here and there, maybe a few spells got their mana cost reduced while others had theirs increased, but Warriors are more OP than ever now, Mages got hit with a Nerf Stick compared to what they used to be, and Summoners were hit the hardest.

And the defense of summoners being gimped so badly is "I can still summon like five daemons"
To which any high level half competent warrior build is probably going to laugh. There was a time when Warriors had to worry about summoners, a summoner could very well turtle and build a truly dangerous army, but now thanks to that timer they're so gimped that 5 measly daemons, which any warrior worth his salt can take down, is supposed to be impressive.
The group that published this game here, have published the 1.03.24 version of the patch here not even the latest patch 1.03.25 which was around roughly a year publishers are to be blamed here for strapping 1.03.24 while it should be either 1.03 or 1.03.25 version. Original dev's have nothing to do with this choice but publishers who put have broken patch of 1.03.24, while 1.03.25 is much better except the timers on summons.

Thus downgrade to patch 1.03 version for no timers on summons. Stop this who is better player to suggest 1.03 or 1.03.25 etc.

belonging to those involved you obviously would defend them

Well i never made patches, but followed what is happening to the game once in a while on the forums of infinite interactive.
And I myself don't like timers on summoned units so i use 1.03 version of the game but what can i say when few people willing to work on it and no one gives feedback properly in years they were working on patches, years after some publishers come along and publish game with patch 1.03.24 made by others which is obsolete by better patch 1.03.25 by same group before them publishing.

Why shouldn't i defend those who need defending!
Plus why no one is asking publisher about such stupid things they did???????
