Best lvl for gameplay
I see there are a couple of very knowledgeable and dedicated players on these boards. May I ask what opinions you all have about what is the most enjoyable level range where the melee-mage-hybrid heroes are effectively more or less equal allowing for a fun long game? I havent played pvp so I suppose Im limited to games against the AI. Thanks in advance.

Around 50, I'd say. Though personally, I find that the joy of this game is in building your hero from the ground up and see him/her become more and more powerful (or hilariously OP). So any level with the characters I've built is enjoyable for me.

Multiplayer I would agree level 50 is the optimal point and single player against the AI whatever you want. Around level 30 the classes really start to show their differences in gameplay as equipment provides so much towards the statistics of a hero at lower levels. The AI is no match for a human so put up the difficulty to hard once you are comfortable that you can beat the opponent. The campaign was also supposed to adapt the difficulty to how many battles won with the same race but I haven't noticed much of a difference.

Thank you both for the responses. Ive personally been a warlords fan from the first one, my favorite was whichever one had the world map with provinces to fight over but much the same combat as this one so maybe warlords 2? I think I might have finished the campaign a long time ago or close to it anyhow, but Ive never had a lvl 50 character yet. Its funny I always tried to make a character who had it all so I would generally realize some flaw 30 levels in and start over. This is before I read the how-to creation guide defining warrior mage hybrid specialties. That guide I found very well delivered and useful and has since gotten me to streamline my all in one attempts..but I still do try for as much as I can. As an aside do either of you lvl up in skirmishes and take your uber 50 guys thru the campaign or is the campaign more enjoyable at low lvls. Or possibly simultaneously skirmish while you campaign? I tend to favor skirmishing for the added variety and opponents.

I tend to do a mixture of Skirmish and Campaign missions. Either way works and sometimes you want that extra variety. I tend to set aside the characters shortly after reaching level 50 for multiplayer freezing their level or backup the game file and keep playing. The game becomes harder to play the higher the level of the heroes against humans but it is up to personal preferances to when to stop if ever. I always freeze a hero's level at level 100 at most after the first few heroes I have made got to 150+.
Well, I normally play Campaign and only rarely dabble in Skirmish. Also, it's somewhat easier in WBC 3 to level up your hero, compared to WBC 2, the one with Risk Style Campaign map (which I like a lot, though I could say that I prefer the WBC 3 Campaign).
And unlike in WBC 2 you can switch your hero between Campaign and Skirmish just fine.
I also undestand how you feel wanting the best of all for your hero. My main guy, a Ssrathi Paladin, for example, could fight, cast spells and lead just fine. I really, really like his jack of all trade-ness.
