Any mods or trainers that work on steam? Or how to turn off hero validation for single player? I wanted to change my skills this play through. Thanks.

The WBC3 hero editor should be able to modify hero stats/skills etc for most versions of the game. It can be downloaded over here https://etheria.fandom.com/wiki/Tool_Downloads
If by hero validation you mean Ironman mode's registry check, the only way to fix that is with the widescreen patch https://www.moddb.com/mods/warlords-battlecry-iii-widescreen-patch
