Game stop launching on steam.

Today I went to launch my game from steam as i normally have been for the last 4 months now. It launch's to a black screen acts like its gone to load and then stops. I think there was some sort of steam update recently that possible broke this. Is there a fix planned to get this back up and working. I have had no issues till that update.

Game still goes to a black screen when launched. In steam library says its running but stops after less then a minute. I have made sure directplay is clicked on under window features and have try most older fixs for this problem. This is a new problem. Those don't work. It has to be a 2021 windows update or a steam updated I have a lot of time playing this pry to which ever updated broke this for me. It act like my Dx is not working for this game anymore to be honest. Had the same problem with stonehearth recently, but manage a work around for that game.

Not to my knowledge. I'm guessing it has to do with direct draw of video card. I've manage to fix a few of my games having same problem but not this 1 sorry.

I went into steam and right click warlords 3 this morning and open local files. I then found the warlord3 exe file right click it and went into compatibility. I select the window98/me and then just a little futher down click on the 256 color box. I then hit apply. I then click the Warlords3.exe file I just change and presto it friggin launch. I almost fell out of my chair. I hopes this helps folks with same problem. If it doesn't I would go in and try each of the compatibility options to see if this fix you launch problems for this game.

Go to the folder with WB3 so like SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Warlords Battlecry III. RMB on launch icon- properties-compatibility-run this program with xp comp + run this program as an administrator. Worked for me

I had the same problem, using ubuntu.

I reinstalled and then used proton hotfix. That worked. I still lost my heroes, but I can save the new ones again.
