If you like 1.03.25's features and are looking for a new patch, it might be worth trying out The Protectors. It was designed to be WBC3.5 - and is still being developed (it also does not have summon timers, unlike the unofficial patch line).
Current state of affairs with this game:
Vanilla - buggy, unpolished and imbalanced but runs okay. Sort of playable.
Widescreen mod - can be visually buggy, but is a general improvement over vanilla, but a very unfinished mod.
Unofficial patch - buggier than vanilla and widescreen mod and while technically playable, not worth a crap. Known crippling bug present for years from what I can tell.
Total conversion stand alone mod - the buggiest of them all and doesn't even install/run.
This series deserves better support. III was always inferior to II, but it's sad to see that none of the community efforts have really fixed that, only possibly made it worse.
How unfortunate that the etheria wiki only glances over this rather serious issue.
I'm currently regretting having "upgraded" from 1.03 to 1.03.25.
At least the former worked, so I'm proper pissed at this level of dishonesty.
