Flickering Cursor/Mouse

While it's not necessarily /mandatory/ to have this done, it does prevent me from playing the game to it's full potential; my problem is that when I minimize the game, my mouse will hence forth flicker, and occasionally even go invisible, though if the latter, it's never permanent, it will just go invisible for five seconds then continue to flicker.

Considering I tend to talk a lot on Skype among other things, this can most certainly become a problem, since if I do minimize it, it makes the game unplayable, forcing me to save, exit, and load the game back up. Any suggestions?

iirc an update in the display driver causes this. The only way to fix this is to update the game's code. To my knowledge the only versions with this update are: GoG's 1.03, 1.03b, The Protectors and 1035 Mod (though I'm uncertain about 1.03b and 1035 Mod. I don't know if Ahatch ever got around to updating the display).

The Protectors? I've heard a lot about this, doesn't it update the game as well? Will it for /sure/ fix my problem?

Yes to both, it's a standalone mod and the flickering cursor bug has been fixed in The Protectors.

Unfortunately, The Protectors often shuts down, it would appear that isn't much of a choice.

Yeah, I've tried a lot of things online, several times in some cases, admittedly I can't even recall all of the things I've tried to do over the years. (even back before this was on Steam, I have the CD) It's always been a problem, but I figured I'd ask to see if it had been solved yet.

Or do you mean The Protectors in particular?

Sorry for the late reply, do you mean in The Protectors or the original? The original doesn't seem to have that option.

If run in windowed mode, The Protectors keeps crashing. Windowed mode doesn't work yet but the flexy resolutions work fine. I'd recommend giving those a try.
