Windows 10 virus scan classifies recently downloaded and updated inversus.exe as Win32/Cloxer.D!cl
anyone else having this problem? currently i am not so eager on checking out whether it is a false positive or not since it happened with a fresh installation / recent update...

Hi,
It should be a false positive as Steam should scan every version of the game on its end before allowing it to be distributed. I'd be curious to hear which virus scanner is flagging it though!

Windows Defender (Win 10 built-in virus protection) with latest signature update... so i guess this is a serious problem now ;(

Mine doesn't pick it up as a false positive, but it's not uncommon for defender to have them on some machines and not others (not sure what the reasoning is). I'll ping the discord server to get some more people to test it out and see how localized it is to your machine. All that said, the game should be plenty safe to run, so I wouldn't be concerned unless something else on your computer is infecting it (which is always a possibility).

I just bougth and installed the commercial version yesterday.
Tonight, I got the new Windows Update and, this mornig, I got a "severe" alert from Windows Defender. The game contains Win32/Cloxer.D!cl (a trojan virus).
I suggest the developpment team to examine their work and change the critical code.
I will ask for refund.
The demo game doe not seem to be infected.

Hi, it’s not actually infected, but given that there has been a second report I’ll look into getting the exe signed to prevent Defender from reporting it incorrectly.

I've submitted the DirectX 11 build of the game to Microsoft as a false positive at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/filesubmission If you were having issues with the DirectX 9 version, let me know as I should submit the other exe. You can also place a submission at that website if you like as you might be able to answer some of the questions more accurately.

I wanted to post an update on progress. I'm also purchasing a code signing certificate (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/dashboard/get-a-code-signing-certificate) for Inversus.exe which should help virus scanners view it as trustworthy. That should hopefully arrive in a few days at which point I can release a patch.

In the meantime, I'm going to try upgrading Inversus to use the latest version of the Hypersect engine in the hopes that the changed exe file will by chance not trigger the virus detector. I'll post more here once either of those steps is finished.

Merry Christmas,
Ryan
Hi Ryan,

sorry to bother you on X-Mas... wasn't my intention to kick off rather huge trouble during the holidays ;(
Sad news, the DX9 exe seems to be affected as well. If you need more precise reports I am sure I can somehow assist if you tell me what you need...

Merry Christmas ;o)

Hi,

Microsoft says they have removed the detection for the DX11 exe I sent them.

Ursprünglich geschrieben von Microsoft:
We have removed the detection. Please follow the steps below to clear cached detection and obtain the latest malware definitions.

1. Open command prompt as administrator and change directory to c:\Program Files\Windows Defender
2. Run “MpCmdRun.exe -removedefinitions -dynamicsignatures”

Alternatively, the latest definition is available for download here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/definitions

That might also fix the DX9 build, but I'm not sure. Either way, I should have my code signing certificate soon at which point I will sign both exe files and hopefully avoid any future issues.

Ok. Thanks to the dev team.
There is no more false positive.
I reinstalled and played this morning and everything was alright.
The game is very funny.
It is one of the very few games able to handle two keyboards, one for each player.
