Losing summons?

Is there a max number of summons you can have available at once? I know there are only so many you can have equipped, but is the inventory that stores them limited as well?

nope.
the only limit is that you can only have one of each monster.

I see, thanks. Do you happen to know if there are any achievements that get locked off as you play? I know some bosses can be refought but not all of them?

i dont remember if any foes could be locked off. you should be fine though since the majority of achievements only require most of the things (chests, secrets, capture and so on).

There are a few enemies you can only fight once.
These enemies are very special and end up being party members after you smack them a few times.
These enemies also have achievements for making them surrender.
You should be able to get these within a couple hours of starting a new game though so don't worry too much about it.

For the summons, i don't think there is anything "technically" locked away. Do keep in mind some reforges require a summon, and there are few summons that are kinda rare to find without end game dungeons. (like some pixel enemies)

If you "lost" a summon, you probably used it while forging a weapon. You can get that summon back by capturing another one of that foe.

There's something like a dozen pieces of equipment that sacrifice a summon to upgrade them fully. But if you explore everywhere, you'll find a grinding spot you can recapture every foe in the game.
