it's one and the same, but go right instead of left towards vulcan. there's another boss, as Sol and skadi count as only 1 boss.

Yes, you need to defeat the Crystal hydra, it's one of the 5 optional bosses needed to unlock the Trials.

Hydra type enemies are very easy.
Equip someone with auto-invisible and auto-target items and defend each turn, use berserk (nolegs) on 2 hydras and syphon (natz) on the last one. Counter other harmful statuses on your defender with the other 3 equipment slots as needed (death and dispel probably)
Your most annoying problem would be auto-casted damage skills, so try to stay away from them. Not hasting that fight makes it kind of faster.

Don't you also have to defeat Snowball? I already did so that's not really a problem, I'm just curious.

Alternatively, Hydras of all kinds are vulnerable to Weaken, Tired and Curse. Keep all 3 stacked on them at all times as well as your own defensive buffs and they'll be weak as kittens in no time. They don't have any method of buffing themselves or clearing status effects so they can't fight back against this. You can also stack up Virus, Poison and Burn while you're at it to wear them down equally, but with Curse in full effect Holy skills will wreck them in short order too.

True, to the point where Crystal Hydra's are immune to any damage over time effect even if they are vulnarable to the type of damage they are related with. I personally had best experience cheesing them down with Mass AoE, preferably earth damage and finish them off in 1-2 turns before new ones respawn. Most Hydra's are heavy hitter or insta killer, so having Death resistance or blessed status can help. Good Luck helps against it to the point that you are Staggered instead of killed by Death status. Having a berserked ally killing Hydras 1 by 1 however can be counterproductive, at least on epic difficulty if you don't manage to kill the rest before new ones respawn. Also the Frost Hydra attacks with Berserk cleansing damage types, so you need any Viking item giving auto berserk.

What is even the point of berserking yourself? Why did you bring it up in the first place?

Berserking gives a significiant damage multiplier, on highest level it is 2.5-times damage I believe. Additionally, characters might use certain skills independend of their cooldowns, IF you're lucky with their skill choice.
