Am I only one who is super annoyed that you can skip text by randomly clicking anywhere on screen?
So often I am just walking and suddenly text pop up and before I even realize it I already did click to move forward and that skips text.

In my opinion going to next text box should have specific small button in the bottom corner of by clicking on text on the bottom and not anywhere on screen.

So many times I had to reload autosave and repeat even 3 battles just to see what that text did say.

Now I am playing this game in really pain in the butt save every after every battle and few seconds to make sure to not skip anything by mistake anymore or at least minimalize amount of stuff I had to replayed while reloading.

EDIT1: I want to point that its weird in the cutscenes you can skip only by clicking text box in EBF5 but when its just a random dialoque on the overworld map you skip it by clicking anything.

EDIT2: In EBF3 and 4 skipping text box did happen only if you click on text at the bottom of the screen.

None of that text is particularly important though.

I just like to click a lot. I just had this habbit while using mouse and playing too many mobas and strategy games.

And when text happen I skip a box or two and when I realize its too late.
I am so glad that auto save feature is really agressive in this game. It helps a lot so thanks for it.

Wasnt EBF3 and 4 skipping text box only if you click on text on the bottom because I dont recall that being an issue for me in those two games.

Yeah, EBF4 was like that, but a lot of people found it annoying, so I made it easier to skip text.

Oh, is there chance to add in the patch a thing to options menu that when check on you can skip text box only by clicking on it?
I don't want to sound ungrateful because I do enjoying your work since you made since I tried for the first time EBF2 but this thing is the only thing that really annoys and ruins my enjoyment me becuase I have a huge dislike on random skipping a content such as joke and dialoque.
Its just my OCD kicks me everytime I skip something and I dont know what did I miss.

I'll consider it if a bunch of people ask for it.

Many thanks.

In that case, I'll give one vote to this.

I like fast text, because I can't stand waiting around for text to appear (I read very, very fast, so even "fastest" usually is slower than my reading speed). I have the same problem in this game in that I often skip the first line of dialogue because I clicked something in the new screen.
I did wonder somewhere in the back of my head what changed, but apparently it's that you don't have to click the textbox anymore.

Anyway, the combo fast text + click anywhere to skip = guaranteed to misclick

I think I'd like this option as well. I like to read through the dialogues and such but my hand has a mind of its own.

I've had this problem as well

Same here. (Another very fast reader using the quick-text option.)

I think it is because Left-click is used for movement too. Mouse-users are spamming L-click to move the party around all the time, so when travelling between areas it is very very easy to habitually-click before noticing the dialogue box has appeared.
An awkward workaround to not miss any dialogue is to disable the quick text option & set text speed to slowest, but it then requires twice as many clicks (kinda defeating the point of the option imo).

I suggest it should use a hybrid system: Right-click anywhere, &/or Left-click only inside the dialogue box area (ie: bottom 1/5 of screen, outside the movement area).
Then players can use L-click for movement & selecting, with R-click for dialogue & backing out of menus. Seems safe & intuitive enough to me, but no idea how easy that would be to program.

(This is probably my only gripe with the game UI. Excellent job, Matt!)

My suggestion to help with this issue (which has hit me a couple times) is to assign a key to allow us to go back a text box or 2 so we can re-read anything we may have hastily skipped.

The backspace key seems appropriate. Because even if we have the option of having to click only on the text box to advance the dialogue, we can still be stupid and click too fast or something.
Neuromaniac Jul 17, 2019 @ 9:50am
it happens to me as well :(
but I like that you don't have to click the text box

so my suggestion is to add a delay – when it pop-ups, for a 1sec or so, you can't continue dialogues with LMB
but for LMB only, RMB is fine

or it could be an option to advance through dialogues with RMB only

Here is another player, who is kind of annoyed that its so easy to miss the first page of dialoge. I just recognize that I missed it when the lead character does not start walking as soon as I enter a new screen.
Maybe you could add a really big speech bubble above the character, which disappears first instead of the first page of dialoge?

Gonna just add my vote for this too, I've had it happen more than enough times. It's minor in the scheme of things, but annoying nonetheless.

I'd suggest a small maybe 1 sec period of lag time before you can skip the first dialogue box.

In the next update I'll go back to what EBF4 did, where you need to actually click on the text box. But only for cutscenes, and only for the first second or so.
