Wake's Fishing Side Quest (Spoilers!)

So, I think I have everything set up properly, but I am not finding this fish!
I'm guessing even when set up properly, it's supposed to be rare, but I want to make sure I'm on the right track...
1) It's thunderstorming
2) I'm fishing in the mine (5th level)
3) I have a Diamond Gem (I also have 1 of each other gem) and a Brush Heather (and an Autumn Crocus) in my knapsack.
4) I've tried both sinking lures and juicy bait, as well as having spent several hours fishing.

I can't drop the goods into the pond, it just takes me to the fishing prompt and the items are still in my inventory. This has me a bit worried that I'm not doing something properly. I just want a little nudge in the right direction to make sure I've got it figured out!

I can't help you, but I'm thankful for this thread giving me confirmation that the amberjack has special requirements that I just have to wait to learn about and I can stop fishing all the time in hopes that it'll show up eventually lol.

Did you try tossing a coin in the fountain in east village?

I think I can confirm that you need to do that because I just caught Banded Armjack. It was the first fish and it was swimming at a snails pace.

I think the only thing you have to do is to clear all the stones in lv 5 before going fishing. I just caught it too. Well, these are my attempts. Hope it can help you try~ heheheh.. ;3
Attempt no 1: I tried throwing Amber, Diamond, etc into the pond --> fail.
Attempt no 2: I tried throwing Lavender, Brush Heather, etc in --> fail.
Attempt no 3: I went up and toss a coin in the fountain (to gain more luck? ;P) After that, I went down for the 2nd time, clear all the rocks in the area, went fishing.. The legendary fish showed up instantly with a snail pace... ;D

As soon as I get another thunderstorm I'll try it! I just hope there's another one in the second half of Autumn.

I didn't have to throw anything in the pond or clear the rocks. I had a diamond and a heather in my inventory. I had a thunderstorm in the second half of autumn so hopefully you can catch it soon.

I can confirm that tossing a coin in the fountain was key to getting the Amberjack to show up. I had the items in my pack and spent all day fishing at the right spot during a storm and never found it. The next stormy day, I tossed a coin in the fountain before heading over to the mine and it was the very first fish to show up.

Great news. Unfortunately, I had no more storms all Autumn so I'll have to wait for next Summer to comple the quest. At least I'll know what I'm doing now. Does anyone know if tossing a coin in the fountain will help you win the Friday raffle? I'm kind of curious now if it does anything else!

Bump on this post...but I am trying so hard for this. I have lavender on me and a diamond cause thats what the wiki said. I didn't realize I had to wait for a storm, so probably mistake one there. I was trying in winter also, does that mean anything? Specially, is there any season that matters, or no, also does the heather trump the flower or? Also, last question, lol, but the stone loachs are super slow fish...does it look like them or is it very clearly another kind of fish?

1. I'm still after the Amberjack myself, but Wake says it appears during a thunderstorm or a blizzard (I've not reached winter yet). 2. Heather IS a flower. 3. I assume it looks different from a Stone Loach.

Ok, so I finished this quest finally. I actually got it a while ago.

So, here's what I can add.
Any storm in winter will work. I think Winter is only Snow/Not Snow, unlike other seasons which can have extra severe weather. I had flowers and gems in my inventory, at least 1 of each. I tossed a coin into the fountain.
Finally, I went to the mine and tried using Juicy bait. I would just catch regular fish. Occasionally, when I caught a Stone Loach, the fishing would end prematurely. I suspect it is a bug of some kind, but it's also possible that this is just when the game decides if you've caught a regular fish or the Amberjack.
Finally, the first time that I used Sinker Drops, only one fish appeared (it looks like a Stone Loach) and it was the Amberjack. You'll know that you caught it because the fishing will end, it will be uniquely named and Wake will show up afterwards.

The place where the Amberjack can be caught is a special fishing pool in the Mine. It will not show up unless it is storming/snowing, so if you aren't using that specific fishing pool you are not in the right spot.

I caught it in the first winter. Actually managed to do it the same blizzardy day I got the quest. Yay for keeping hold of things!
