I like that Reiza also caters to people who have don't have big expensive rigs. This is admirable from an ideological perspective, as most other racing game developers, like Codemasters, only cater to people with expensive rigs.
I also like that Reiza focuses on the content rather than the visual prettyness.
The amount of content you get in AMS is quite luxurious compared to other sims.
However, Assetto Corsa and Automobilista are both worth having since they don't have the same content, the same tracks and events. They are complements to me, not substitutes.
The fact that the physics is different between the two is a big Plus for me, not a Minus.
If the physics was the same there would be less reason for me to buy both games.
So I actually want my sim games to be different from each other in terms of physics.
I've enjoyed the physics in all my sims, so for me it's more about the content.
Yet it's impossible to rank them since the content each offers is quite different:
* Race 07 + expansions/DLCs
* RaceRoom
* rFactor 1 & 2
* Assetto Corsa
* Stock Car Extreme/Automobilista
I don't think it has anything to do with the console porting though, since console owners would buy the console version ... not the PC version.
So there would be no reason for them to change the PC version to benefit Console owners, ... since logic dictates they would be playing the game on console, not on PC. It doesn't add up.
I think the "dumbing down" has to do with AC trying to compete with Project Cars, as well as AC becoming increasingly popular with the mainstream crowd, with people who play Dirt Rally and F1 for example.
When I looked at review numbers of AC six months ago or so, it was roughly matching that of RaceRoom, just a few thousand. Since then it has almost doubled however, surpassing not only RaceRoom but also Project Cars. So it has quickly gained in popularity.
If you want to reach the mainstream you can't really make a sim like AMS or the old AC, but instead aim for something closer to Project Cars, F1, Dirt Rally and Forza.
Sorry for the off topic... but you don't know what you're talking about.
On topic: both are good products and should be in the library of a sim racing fan.
FFB & physics is best on rFactor 2 & AMS. on the kerbs, at AMS feels more good as RF2.
AC is fake after <<netKar-Pro>> fake FFB, physics, graphics etc... But I do not blame KUNOS because PPL like more ♥♥♥♥, as gold.
How do u know AC ffb is fake? Wierd cuz my toy steering like AC that feel better then canned rf2 ffb especially AC road cars just like how it feel with my RL car. I dunno about AC racing cars ffb but cuz i never drive one but i trust AC data mainly bcuz AC built their office on a race track ..Also watch Aris https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1m4pwjfHV8
However, back in 2014 I purchased a DK2 and this wetted my appetite for VR. Move forward to 2016, I rarely use my triple screen setup, CV1 + AC = a need to change my underwear.
So for me AC is my go to game (Project Cars is still floaty even in VR)
in the gamer player distance i'll put reiza is the shorter,project cars beeing the last, in between i can put at least 8 others, all have a good feel some more in better days and some awful in lesser day
2. Automobilista
3. Race 07
AC comes in somewhere between 4-6 imo, too much focus on road cars..
One of the main differences I find already is the menu and setting, key config, is much busier and a little more confusing in AMS vs AC. AMS is similar to rFactor in this way, and being able to set the brake balance etc, on my G27 buttons is more confusing in AMS vs AC (Generally stuff like this) Both development teams are great and take good care of their fanbase and always updating and trying to make their game better. At first I thought R3E was going to be my goto sim after AC but that has changed, I like Reiza and how they try to advance their game much better than the others.
my 2 cents.
I like Automobilista physics, ffb and AI but that old aesthetics and a lack of overall polishment, terrible UI, bugs and unstable performance makes it a puzzle more than a sim. Time became a rarity nowadays. I want to play a sim not work on a sim.
I am very curious to see the how Reiza will deal with directx 11,12, vulkan, openGL, whatever. for its next sim. I wish them all the luck. I would love to play a working ISI motor in a modern and immersive ambient.
I did my best to enjoy Automobilista but it didn´t work for me. Let´s see 2017
isiMotor sims also have much more logical and functional, yet simpler main UIs.
Garage menus are much simpler and easier to navigate in AMS and especially rF2, the latter which also has a car setup compare option. In AC you have to circus around many tabs to adjust something simple.
AC only wins in the presentation department and out of the box HUD flexibility, but it pales in comparison to isiMotor sims regarding fundamental under the hood polish, functionality and vehicle dynamics.
AC isn't even close to becoming as complete and working properly as rF1 anytime soon.
