Automobilista

Worth getting Automobilista?
Is it worth getting Automobilista on sale? I already own rF2, PC2, AC, ACC and RR. I would just get the base game and then just fill it with Mods, and mainly for offline races against the AI. I heard that FFB, Physics and AI are very good but that it is also very dated. I will be getting Automobilista 2 once it gets released. So is it worth?

I would say it’s worth getting it on sale. There’s an incredible amount of single player championships you can run, as well as being able to create your own with ease, not to mention the modding community.

The only issues I have is the AI on higher difficulty levels have a tendency to have braking points that are nearly impossible to beat (modern F1 cars in particular), and at higher difficulties the AI often just drive right through me instead of passing cleanly.

For this reason, I’d say get it on sale, or even want until AMS2 is out to see if that particular issue is resolved.

FFB, Physics and AI are very good IMO. Graphics are dated but much improved over the original rFactor. IMO rFactor2 is a bit better in all aspects but there are a lot of fun cars to drive and many mods and tracks available for free.

I have seriously problems with this sim. First, game crash after start of the singleplayer race. Ok, I solved but then start problems with FFB, exactly with steering rate and bad steering input. I red, there is any problem with update of the game with special types of the steering wheels (I have TS 300). Finally, AI is not on the level of Raceroom, or ACC, or old AC. Its crashfest in the first turn in my experience. So, big disappointment for me.

I did not get it in the end, I will invest into rFactor 2 DLCs and wait for Automobilista 2 to be released, I heard good things about AMS but I enjoy rFactor 2 alot so it's more of a lack of time issue :)

No, just wait for the second one
but if you can get it on a sale its worth it.

Always. The Caterham and the Formula Trucks are outstanding pieces of art.

AMS Ultimate edition is available with a pretty good discount, you can get it even cheaper if you wait for a sale. Imo AMS Ultimate edition + Patrick Giranthon's track pack should provide enough content to keep you busy for a while.

much better than RF2 which is still blatantly WIP and has so little content by comparison.

anyone who is into simracing should own AMS in my humble opinion...

it lacks VR support if this is a deal breaker however.

Mmmmmm, I wasn't going to buy it and wait for AMS 2, but will probably just get the base game and fill it with mods, what do you think? or are the DLCs worth it?....the thing is I already own alot of sims, every time I feel like racing I just rotate games, I never stick to a sim for a few days, which means I don't use all the content. :)

Imo getting the ultimate edition with all DLCs is the best option since it's only slightly more expensive than the base game and includes some pretty good content.

I think you made the right decision. :) The Reiza and RaceDepartment forums are full of advice if you need it. The latter has mods, including an excellent track pack (look for the updated versions of some of the included tracks) and the Porsche RSR 1974 and Cart Extreme mods.

I saw the Track Pack with 28 Tracks, what other would you suggest?
