Shadow Ranger on Ranger Hardcore.

Hey guys, I wanted to ask if anyone managed to complete the game on Ranger Hardcore while trying to do the Shadow Ranger achievement?

I'm having a real tough time during "The Chase" when Artyom boards the train and a hellfire of bullets fly everywhere. I couldn't get pass all the Saiga and Kalash gunfire. I used up all my meds during the part where Khan drives you... Should I just kill all these guys and play for Shadow Ranger on Easy? or is it possible?

Thanks for any help.

Added note: On the level Bandits. I knocked out one of the Bandits and he fell onto the rail track and then I ran him over since I didn't know how to move the body. Is this considered a kill?

As one of the developers said you can shoot everything that move on levels: Chase, Red Square and D6. Murders not count towards achievement.

There has been conflicting information about these. =/ Do you have a source for that?

There was a huge thread on Shadow Ranger, but I can't find it now. I did find this though:

I'm currently playing on ranger hardcore, but I haven't gotten to the Chase yet, but I'm pretty sure it won't be fun, judging by how much fun I had on Normal mode.

I killed people on the chase and red square and also did not get the achievement so I think that's bull

As far as i know, the only human you are allowed to kill, is the flamethrower one on the platform in D6.
I only killed him and got the achievment.
edit: note: you are not allowed to kill the shield guys around him directly, if the NPCs do it it's k, or if they die due to the explosion of the flamethrower it's also k.

you cannot kill anyone except for at the very very end of the game, with the flamethrower guy. if you restart a chapter you forfeit the achievement. if you ever accidently kill even a single person, even if you reload a checkpoint, it forfeits the achievement.

also, i did complete the chase and red square on ranger hardcore without killing anyone, but it took about 30 tries or more each. you have to be perfect and follow very specific patterns to avoid death.

Welp. I killed someone by accident on the Chase part... So... i'll just slaughter them all I guess,

The chase part seems impossible on ranger hardcore. After Khan yells hold on and the explosion happens you die no matter what. Stay crouched and pump in medkits at max speed = you die from headshot. Bop up and down while using medkits, you die a bit later. Sucks you can't move at all.

I just played through and only killed the flamethrower guy... and still never got the achievement. JFC i only knocked out maybe 20-25 ppl along the way too. I don't know what i did wrong.

Gonna have to effin try again i spose...

Seriously? Even if you restart a chapter without killing anyone it forfeits? That should've been included in the vague hint given to us.

Guess I'll find out for sure if I get it or not when I finish this run. I had to restart a couple level many times because the game kept freezing on the loading screen.

I thought you had to restart the game if you killed someone and tried reloading the chapter to get around it.

Considering ranger hardcore haven´t been fixed yet I´ve managed to succeed on normal ranger mode.

I cannot confirm if reloading the chapter without killing any one resets the game or not but I do know I ran into some very, very strange bugs on the Contagen level with the gas mask and enemies tweaking out. I ended up having to restart the chapter there. I tried getting past the chase with no kills on ranger hardcore, but having no medpacks make it a royal pain. The same with Red Square, even with med packs. Probably going to replay on easy and run past everything to see if I get that damn Shadow Ranger achivement.

I didn't play on Ranger Hardcore Mode yet, but I Tried to play a chapter (Chase - Ranger Mode) with no kills. It's painfull! I gave up. But I must say I'm not a FPS expert.
SHADOW RANGER - You can not kill anyone even on The Chase and Red Square.
On Depot - I didn't get the enemies' filters and spared the snipers.
On D6 - I destroyed the tank and killed the flamethrower only.
On Bandits - Spare everyone even the man who took the woman and her son as hostages.

Well, if anyone is feeling cheated not getting the chevo there is a way to do it.

Go to C:\Users\user name\AppData\Local\4A Games\Metro LL\110000100045726
& rename the user.cfg to something else., load the game & load D6 level. Don't kill anyone but tank & flamer & you will get the chevo.
